505 Games has officially announced thatGhostrunner2, the sequel to its 2020 sci-fi title, will be in stores in October. This year has already seen a fair share of hits with a slew ofhighly anticipated games to come in the next few months, particularly in October. While it remains to be seen how the timeline will pan out forGhostrunner2, its launch will now pit it against a few other high-profile games.

Following its release on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, the originalGhostrunnersaw notable success, especially after its next-gen upgrade to the PS5 and Xbox X|S consoles. Even as the game received post-launch updates in the form of new modes and cosmetic DLCs, it didn’t take long for fans to set expectations for a follow-up title. By May 2021, 505 Gamesannounced that aGhostrunnersequel was in the works.

Although not much has been said about the title since then, the studio stated thatfans could expectGhostrunner2 by around Q4 in 2023. Now, as leaks begin to make their way online, 505 Games has officially announced that the sequel will release on October 26. This was followed by opening up preorders forGhostrunner2 with three editions on offer: the standalone title at $39.99, a Deluxe Edition at $49.99, and a Brutal Edition at $69.99 which will give players 48 hours early access to the game. Additionally, fans preorderingGhostrunner2 will be offered a variety of cosmetic items for each version of the game.

The preorder trailer also gives a taste of what’s to come in theGhostrunnersequel, particularly with regard to its story, gameplay, and mechanics. Here, players will see the cyber ninja protagonist Jack away from the deathtrap of Dharma Tower for the first time and “explore the wasteland beyond.” As 505 Games put it, “the sequel promises to up the ante from the original in every conceivable way” which incidentally includes motorcycle combat inGhostrunner2. The developer further teases that the upcoming title will also be packed with “new powers, upgradeable abilities, traversal mechanics, an expanded narrative, deeper world-building, and devilish new enemies.”

Interestingly,Ghostrunner2 is only the latest title to hit an October release date in an already packed month includingAssassin’s Creed Mirage,Super Mario Bros. Wonder,Spider-Man2, andForza Motorsportto name a few. Recently, evenAlan Wake2 pushed its launchamid the slew of October titles. In any case, gamers will have an exciting few months ahead.
