As Season 1 ofDragonflightwinds down, Blizzard Entertainment is moving forward with its decision to remove the Valor and Conquest cap inWorld of Warcraft. The success ofDragonflightas aWorld of Warcraftexpansionhas been in its simple direction, untethered from complex, superficial systems that bogged down previous installments such asShadowlandsorBattle for Azeroth. Though the expansion is still in the early stage of its content cycle, Blizzard’s decision to focus on the things that madeWorld of Warcraftfun has paid off remarkably well so far.

With an increased emphasis on professions and crafting, the return of Group Loot, as well as further streamlining the reward system fromDragonflight’s Great Vault, obtaining andupgrading one’s gear inWorld of Warcrafthas certainly shifted to be more forgiving of a player’s bad luck. One such system that emerged fromShadowlands, and inspired byMists of Pandaria, have been the Valor gear upgrades, allowing players to take a desired item from a Mythic Keystone dungeon, and upgrade its item level by spending their hard-earned Valor points.

Since thelaunch ofDragonflight’s Season 1, the amount of Valor a player could earn on a season was 1500 (with the number increasing by 750 per each additional week). Starting from February 14, this limit is being removed andWorld of Warcraftplayers will be able to acquire as much Valor as they need to upgrade their gear. Furthermore, the cap is also being lifted from Conquest points, the PvP equivalent to Valor points.

The decision has been met with universal praise from theWorld of Warcraftcommunity, as the removal of Conquest and Valor caps will allow players to bring their alts up to speed, or incentivize them to try out new classes and specializations late in the season. Thanks to player-friendly decisions such as this, many fans are findingDragonflightto be a refreshing change of pace, reminiscent of beloved expansions such asLegion.
