Wonder Woman1984has had some ups and downs when it comes to popular reception. As one of the biggest films to go direct-to-streaming on HBO Max alongside its theater release, many people were very excited to see a big superhero epic in the comfort of their own homes. That combined with the decent early reviews left many people hoping that the film would be a welcome relief from the stress and anxiety of pandemic lockdowns. Things went south as the film actually started rolling out, however.

As the film began to unlock on HBO Max, thecritical and public consensus towardsWonder Woman 1984took a sharp downward turn, with many criticizing the film as inconsistent, unimpressive looking, and confused in its storytelling. While the project had a better overall reception than some other DC Extended Universe films, it was hardly the slam dunk that many were expecting, and it didn’t live up to the high bar set by the first film.
