InFallout Londonthere are plenty of sidequests to take on, giving you an excuse to explore sections of the map that the main quest wouldn’t take you to. One such sidequest is “Catching Up”, a fairly short jaunt to a nearby library on behalf of “Sabertooth” Syd. Syd wants to learn how to read and tasks you with grabbing some kids books from the library, and if you can find his childhood favorite: Dove’s Dilemma, then that would be perfect.
Fallout Londondoes a surprisingly good job of hiding that particular book, however, stashing it under a box in an easy-to-miss part of the library. This guide will explain how to start Syd’s quest, how to get into the section of the library where the children’s books are kept, and how to find a copy of Dove’s Dilemma.
How to Start Catching Up
The Catching Up Quest can be accessed at any point after you protect the Swan and Mitreand take out the scout that escaped. Once you’ve done this, just speak to “Sabertooth” Syd in the Swan and Mitre to learn about his plan and start the quest. He’ll point you towards the Churchill Library to hunt down the books, which is thankfully only a short walk away.
How to Get into the Library’s Right Wing
To get into the part of the library where the Children’s Books are kept, you’ll need to head up to the top floor first. The Chief Librarian’s Office is up here, with a key to the Book Room lying on their desk. Open the door to their office while standing to one side of the door, since it’s rigged up to a shotgun trap. After you get inside,you may steal the shotgun for personal use, along with anything else that isn’t nailed down.
Snag the Key from the Director’s Desk and check the terminal to learn a bit more about how the library has been operating. That secure room of banned books sounds interesting, but it’s unlikely to contain Dove’s Dilemma. With this key we can now open the door to Churchill Library Right Wing, which can be found on the same floor you entered on. This section of the Library is where we’ll find the Kid’s Books Syd wants.
How to Find Dove’s Dilemma
You’ll see a ramp ahead once you enter the Right Wing.Take out the incoming Ghouls and then use that ramp to get upstairs.Turn around at the top of the ramp and look for a cardboard box on top of a shelf. Pick up the cardboard box by holding down E while looking at it, then move it somewhere else to reveal Dove’s Dilemma hidden underneath it. Grab this book, then pick up some more kid’s books from this library section to round out the collection you’re giving to Syd. Once you’ve got four books you’re able to head back to Syd and complete the quest.
