Summary

Daemon Targaryen, the Rogue Prince and one of the leading stars ofHouse of the Dragon, is a complicated character, to say the least, and it’s always hard to know what he will do next. One thing that is for certain, however, is that he is thoroughly compelling to watch, at least from a safe distance with the knowledge that his actions are merely the work of fiction.

In Season 2 ofHouse of the Dragon, the disputed king consort has much more time on his hands than usual, and it’s interesting to think about what video games Daemon Targaryen would play during his downtime at Harrenhal if he was given the chance. With a love for dragons and adrenaline-inducing violence, there are plenty of great options available to him, but Daemon would likely get the most enjoyment out of these particular titles.

Rhaegar Targaryen in Crusader Kings 3

While Daemon can certainly get bored with the tedious aspects of ruling, there’s no denying that he loves scheming and leading armies into war, two things thatCrusader Kings 3is known for. Inthis grand strategy game, players take on the role of a medieval ruler, living out their personal lives while hopefully steering their realm to greater heights. Upon death, players take over as their ruler’s heir, and upon succession, things can get almost as messy as the Dance of the Dragons.

War is naturally a big part of the game, and although diplomacy is another option, Daemon would be much more interested in the scheme system that sees players plot to have other characters killed or kidnapped. What makes this game so perfect for the Rogue Prince is the existence ofaGame of Thronesmod,CK3 AGOT, which will soon see the addition of dragons and a new start date set during the first few episodes ofHouse of the Dragon. If Daemon could playCrusader Kings 3with this mod, he’d be able to see what would have happened if he’d rebelled against his brother.

A dirty kitchen in House Flipper

In Season 2 ofHouse of the Dragon, Daemon lingers at Harrenhal, a crumbling ruin of a castle that was burned down by his own ancestor. Frustrated by the constant leaks and with nothing else to do, Daemon sets about trying to restorethis once-great castleand even gets his own hands dirty in the process.

This is whereHouse Flippercomes in, as it is a game all about purchasing abandoned homes and restoring them. Players can clean, paint, knock down walls, build new ones, install air conditioning, and much more. With enough expertise, players will be able to sell their renovated house for much more than they bought it for, before moving onto a new property. Perhapsthe relaxing nature of this gamecould help Daemon take the edge off.

Key art for Hades

Daemon Targaryen is a man who fears no one and, as such, would likely enjoy defying the god of death inHades. Thisroguelike action RPGhas all the challenges the Targaryen prince seeks, and it would be interesting to see if his prowess on the battlefield could translate to video games that demand such skill.

In this critically acclaimed game, players take on the role of the Prince of the Underworld, Zagreus, and at times, the Olympian gods bestow powers upon him. With Targaryens often said to be closer to gods than men, Zagreus certainly seems to be a fitting protagonist for Daemon to play as. Lastly,Hadeshas a certain edginess to it that Daemon could resonate with, even if he himself doesn’t realize it.

Art of Doom (2016)

If there’s one franchise that could distract Daemon from the haunted halls of Harrenhal and his messed-up dreams, it has to betheDoomseries, and what better title is there to start with than the 2016 installment, simply known asDoom? With violence, gore, and heavy metal music all delivered at full-throttle speeds, few things could be better at drowning out the whispers that plague Daemon’s sleep.

Armed with a shotgun in place ofhis iconic sword, Dark Sister, Daemon could have endless fun slaughtering vast hordes of demons in a game that encourages players to never stop running or firing.

A dragon flying in Century Age of Ashes

If there’s one thing Daemon Targaryen loves more than anything else, it’s dragons. As the rider of the Blood Wyrm Caraxes and an ever-present visitor to the Dragonmont, where he is the first to find new clutches of eggs, Daemon cannot get enough of these creatures.

This is whygames that allow players to ride dragonsare a natural fit for the Rogue Prince, and out of these, the best is arguablyCentury: Age of Ashes. This is a competitive team-based PVP game dedicated entirely to aerial dragon fights, with players being able to twist and turn in the air at freighting speeds to avoid castle towers and oncoming dragon fire alike. There are different classes of dragons to ride with varying skills, lots of customization, and best of all, for a man who does not feel like borrowing money from his wife and queen, the game is free-to-play.
