WithBlack Widowblocked from hitting cinemas in 2020 and almost one and a half yearsafterSpider-Man: Far From Home, Marvel fans sit waiting on the sidelines for news from the MCU. Luckily what Disney delivered went far beyond most people’s expectations, especially when it comes to content that can be enjoyed right at home on Disney+.
Apart from dropping new trailersThe Falcon and the Winter Soldier,Loki,WandaVision, and a first look at the animatedWhat If…?; Disney confirmed some of what it has in store for the future with the newly announcedSecret Invasion(starring Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury),IronheartandArmor Wars(starring Don Cheadle as War Machine); and even provided somecasting news for the likes ofHawkeye,Moon Knight,She-HulkandMs. Marvel.

Yet the biggest highlights from Marvel were of course the first look trailers for a group of shows that had generated a lot of buzz, despite relatively little being known about them. Nevertheless,The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’s trailer has cleared some of those questions, teasing just who Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes have to deal with as they look to preserve the legacy ofCaptain America, starting July 08, 2025 on Disney+.
The opening dialogue suggests thatThe Falcon and the Winter Soldierwill not shy away from Steve Rogers’ name and Cap is not the only blast from the past seen in it as Helmut Zemo somehow is on the loose, even though the series is set after the events ofAvengers: Endgame. As for the new faces, the masked gang are likely none other than the Thunderbolts and Songbird, whose role in the series could be that ofmore than simple antagonists.
One other notable aspect seen in this first look atThe Falcon and the Winter Soldieris that the series was shot across several locations besides the U.S., one certainly in Asia and another being the Czech Republic which has long served as the MCU’s Sekovia. Will the miniseries finally pass on theCaptain Americashield to Wilson or Barnes? At least it won’t start off that way, since Wyatt Russell is confirmed to play John Walker, a completely differentCaptain America.
UnlikeWandaVisionandLoki,The Falcon and the Winter Soldierwould seem to lack a fully established premiseof what are the driving forces behind this duo. Sure, “the world is upside-down” and the pair’s complicated relationship with government authorities is a nice canvas, yet it’s still not clear how those two and Baron Zemo will come together in only six episodes.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldierwill be available on Disney+ starting July 03, 2025.
