Anyone familiar with theMarvel’s Spider-Mancommunity will know just how often suit requests are made forMarvel’s Spider-Man 2. From Hellfire Gala and Arachknight to Superior Spider-Man andFortnite’s Zero War suit, fans have pushed for numerous cosmetics over the years. The constant outfit requests have even inspired a community meme, with fans occasionally making joke requests for absurd costumes.

Recently, a suit request from a Redditor named GokiPotato was made, and it could certainly fall into the meme category. However, while the fan may have made the post as a joke, it would actually be a hilarious addition toMarvel’s Spider-Man 2. The costume in question is Spider-Rex, a goofy version of the wall crawler that comes from another dimension. While it is an odd concept to say the least, Spider-Rex could actually work well within the heavily anticipated sequel.

How Spider-Rex Could Be Used in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2

Spider-Rex is a Marvel character that has not even been properly introduced yet, as the creature is set to make its debut in an upcomingEdge of Spider-Versecomic. Similar to the tie-in books for the initialSpider-Verseevent andSpider-Geddon, the new Spider heroes that will be featured in theEnd of the Spider-Verseevent will get their own comics to establish their backstories. As such, fans will not know the origins of Spider-Rex until August, though it can be assumed that the red and blue dinosaur has similar abilities toPeter Parker.

While Spider-Rex seems like something that would be more at home inCapcom’sExoprimal, there are a few ways for Insomniac Games to make the character work inMarvel’s Spider-Man 2. One method would be to make him an unlockable costume that players only get once they have fully completed the game, getting access to the character after they do everything else. They could then be free to roam the streets as a massive T.Rex, destroying vehicles and buildings with ease.

While Insomniac Games may not want to fully open the multi-verse just yet, it could be fun to see alternate Spider-Men through DLC. While one DLC could focus on Spider-Man 2099, and another could focus onthe ever popular Spider-Gwen, a DLC that lets players control Spider-Rex would be a ton of fun. Even if this was treated as a silly bonus mode fans could download for free, it would make for a nice change of pace designed to get a laugh out of players.

Perhaps the best and most subtle way to use Spider-Rex inMarvel’s Spider-Man 2is through an arcade machine. Spidey is an established hero and a celebrity within Insomniac’s universe, after all, so it makes perfect sense that there would be plenty of merchandise based on the wallcrawer. An arcade game that features a T. Rex version of Spider-Man seems like a terrific way to pay homage to the Spider-Rex character and the upcoming comic that will tell their story. This arcade machine could be worked into the narrative likeCrash Bandicootwas used inUncharted 4: A Thief’s End, or it could be visited regularly in some kind of hub area, letting players enjoy the mini-game as much as they want.

While Spider-Rex will surely never be something to take seriously, it is a fun concept that can keep fans entertained, something that was already proven true whenDC introduced the Jurassic Leagueto comic book fans. Whether it comes in the form of a full-on mini-game for fans to try out, an alternate suit unlocked upon 100% completion, or a plushie inside a claw machine that one of the characters points out,Marvel’s Spider-Man 2should find a way to reference Spider-Rex.
