Overwatch 2is seemingly still far off, though when it does come, every member of the hero roster will be sporting a brand-new look. The franchise’s mascot Tracer is no different, and one cosplayer has seemingly chosen to mix and match pieces from the hero’s original look with the updated items seen in herOverwatch 2redesign.
While someOverwatch 2hero redesignsare extreme, such as Widowmaker and Genji, others are far more subtle. Tracer is one of the heroes with some less obvious changes, which makes sense given just how recognizable the spiky-haired time traveler is. Alongside some fancier shoes in the sequel, Tracer’s pants boast a new look - though the same shades of orange are used. Her wristguards are slimmer, with the pointed end removed, while her chronal accelerator is also a bit sleeker. Lastly, she boasts a different color jacket and entirely orange lenses.

With so many small changes, Tracer cosplayers need entirely new outfits to match up to the latest iteration of the hero. The well-known cosplayer Sammycosplay rose to this challenge, however, creating a Tracer outfitthat incorporates pieces from the one the character will be wearing in the highly anticipated sequel. As is always the case with dressing up as Lena Oxton, the hardest thing to get right is the hair. As soon as fans see Sammycosplay in action, though, they should notice that the cosplayer has not struggled in this area at all.
Though Tracer fans will be happy to see the character’s iconic hairdo represented well in the image, that is hardly the only thing that the fan has successfully replicated. While some props like the wristguards and eyewear do resemble the original variants instead of the redesigned armor pieces fromOverwatch 2, the legwear and shoes look more like the ones seen in Tracer’s updated look. Another nice touch sees Tracer’s personality captured through Sammycosplay’s pose in the photo. Looking backwards and holding one leg up, the fan nails one of the victory poses fans can see if they win inanOverwatchmatch.
While this cosplay is starting to gain in popularity now, it was first posted back in 2020. As such, perhaps Sammycosplay will dress up as Tracer once again onceOverwatch 2comes closer to its still unknown release date. If she updates the goggles and wristguards, the cosplay would perfectly match Tracer’s redesign. Either way, though, the fan did a great job of dressing up as the speedy damage hero. While there areplenty ofOverwatchcharactersto cosplay as, Tracer seems like a perfect fit for Sammycosplay.
It will be interesting to see where Tracer’s story goes next inOverwatch 2, as it has already been expanded on heavily with some oftheOverwatchcomics. With a full PvE campaign on the way, she could have plenty of opportunities to shine.
