A 4-man studio is creating a survival horror game calledPAMELA, and a recent alpha video is making waves with its stunning environment and crafting system.

Fans of survival horror games will be excited to hear that there will be a new game on the block this year, and its name isPAMELA. The game puts a twist on the typical survival horror gimmick by taking place in the future, and allowing players to interact with futuristic weaponry as they craft, hide, and run their way through a vicious day-and-night cycle.PAMELAis an open world game, and it certainly looks like it has the potential to be a hit on PC.

PAMELAtakes place in a fallen Utopia called Eden, where players take on the role of a character who has just awoken to discover the carnage. Should players die within the game, they will not only lose the augmentations and loot that hey had picked up, but they will respawn as an entirely different character, somewhat akin toZombiUorState of Decay. The game is named after the ‘sympathetic AI’ that maintains the city, who will grant the player special abilities influenced by the way they interact with the world.

The game easily passed theSteam Greenlightprocess several months ago, and the below trailer should exemplify why: from crafting mechanics to zombie combat, it looks likePAMELAhas a solid foundation to build from.

The aesthetic of the fallen utopia gives off a distinctMass Effectmeets The Institute fromFallout 4vibe, and one would be remiss if they didn’t think ofBioShockwhen it comes to failed Utopian environments. The studio also mentionedDeus Exas an inspiration, which would explain the focus on augmentations. Featuring everything from creepy shopping malls to dark nightclubs, it looks like there will be plenty to see and do inPAMELA, especially if NVYVE Studios has littered futuristic weaponry all around the place.

Like most horror games, it looks like the shadows are a thing to be feared. Players will have the ability to manage the power of Eden and keep the lights going for as long as possible, but with eventual darkness will come horror, and we’re pretty excited to see ifPAMELAcan truly deliver on that front. The trailer did a good job with the ‘shock turn reveal’ technique, but the enemies will need to provide a solid challenge if the game hopes to retain an interested audience. At the very least, it seems like the kind of game which will attract plenty of YouTube reaction videos.

Plenty of games have come from Steam Greenlight to do well, including thenow-staple horror franchiseFive Nights At Freddy’s. If NVYVE Studios can match even a portion of that success, we have to imagine the studio would be pretty proud of such a result.

PAMELAis currently still in alpha development for the PC, and currently has no official release date. It is expected to launch later this year.
