Summary

While visiting a crash site on Titan inStarfield, a player found a set of broken trees on the surface, accompanied by ship wreckage. It’s arandomly generated point of interest inStarfieldthat seems to offer more than just salvage to collect.

Titan is the largest moon of planet Saturn in the Sol system inStarfield, and it’s a widely-known location since it’s home to New Homestead. In addition to being one of the planets in the Sol system, Titan helps form the overall narrative of the game and how humans evolved from Earth and into theSettled Systems inStarfield. Titan is a cold rock in the Sol system, containing deep-freezing conditions that prohibit any Magnetosphere for settlers to rely on. Furthermore, there are no fauna and flora on the planet; New Homestead and random POIs are the only locations that players can go to. With its frozen ecosystem, it’s a relatively barren moon to explore.

However, despite being a rather desolate rock with a couple of locations to consider, Titan is home to some trees. Upon discovering a random crash site inStarfield, Reddit user CorbinNZ shared their encounter at a dry spot on Titan where broken logs are poking out from the ground amid the ship wreckage. There’s no evidence as to where the trees come from, for there is no other area on Titan that houses trees. The only explanation is the assumption that the ship wreckage dispersed the trees from the cargo hold, as speculated by CorbinNZ.

When they shared the encounter on Reddit, one user responded to the matter with the notion that it was an in-game error. Suggesting that it was a mistake, the user said, “POI error. I’ve found caves with roots sticking out of the walls on Earth’s Moon.” This would mean that the trees are just another manifestation of the flaws that players and critics have pointed out in regard toStarfield’s game design. Other examples ofStarfield’s bugs includeNew Atlantis floating in spaceand Sarah Morgan turning into a robot, just to name a couple.

Creation Engine 2 forStarfieldhas introduced Bethesda’s updated approach to its design for its newer and future titles. While the engine does provide real-time lighting physics and volumetric effects, the engine isn’t without its flaws. Much like its predecessor, it has been a target of criticism from fans and critics who are familiar with thelongevity of Bethesda games. The presence of trees on Titan shows what Creation Engine 2 can do when it isn’t being properly processed. With discoveries such as the trees, players can potentially find other similar locations that might be surprising to find inStarfield.
