During the Electronic Arts quarterly earnings call, company executives spoke about their plans and expectations forStar Wars Battlefront 2. During the call, Electronic Arts CFO Blake Jorgensen revealed that the company expects to sell around 14 million copies ofStar Wars Battlefront 2during in the game’s first five months.
Jorgensen reminded listeners on the call that 2015’sStar Wars Battlefrontshipped 14 million units between its release and the end of that fiscal year, which ended in March 2016. Electronic Arts expects to ship “essentially the same number” ofStar Wars Battlefront 2copies in that same time frame.

Naturally, EA would like to sell more copies of the sequel than the original, and its plans forStar Wars Battlefront 2seem to reflect that. This time around, gamers can look forward to asingle-player campaignthat offers a robust, compelling experience, along with the expected multiplayer game modes.
Additionally, a developer at Criterion recently spilled the beans thatvirtual reality may be in the cardsat some point forStar Wars Battlefront 2. With such an expansive universe, it makes sense thatStar Wars Battlefront 2would offer a VR experience.
During the earnings call, EA CEO Andrew Wilson discussed a few more details aboutStar Wars Battlefront 2. Wilson mentioned that the content in the game will be over three times the size of its predecessor at launch. It’s unknown how much of that will be the single-player experience, but it’s nice to know EA is thinking bigger this time around.
Wilson also revealed that EA is planning a “very, very robust” live service plan for the game, which it plans to discuss in greater detail around EA Play and E3. Hopefully the direction will be along the lines of the free DLC sported byTitanfall 2, instead of a paid Season Pass or expansions. A few weeks ago, EA hinted that there wouldn’t be a Season Pass, but thenwalked back those commentswith the promise that more information would be inbound soon.
IfStar Wars Battlefront 2can provide a compelling, interesting experience that meets and even exceeds gamer expectations, EA shouldn’t have any trouble matching or beating the success ofStar Wars Battlefront.
Star Wars Battlefront 2is set to release August 16, 2025 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
