TheStar Warsfranchise is so grand and sweeping that it is unsurprising Disney needed to cut a lot of the original canon out to make room for new projects. Much of what is now deemedStar WarsLegends remains in the hearts of fans, but is no longer part of the canon universe as Disney deems it.

However, there are various characters and events that have made their way back into the new canon from the Legends material. TheStar Warsfranchise could see many more things return, including some of the very best non-canon starships that were introduced in the wider media franchise.

Star Wars Ebon Hawk

7Ebon Hawk

A ship from the era of the Old Republic, the Ebon Hawk was a Dynamic-Class freighter ship used by smugglers in theKnights of the Old Republicseries. When Revan turned back from the Sith to the Jedi Order, he used the Ebon Hawk in his long search for the all-important Star Forge.

Believed to be one of the fastest ships in the galaxy at its time, the Ebon Hawk was constantly changing hands and owners, who were continually updating it. This meant that it was hard for anybody to try and pin down precisely where it came from, but nevertheless, it was remembered for a powerful hyperdrive and for the journeys it made into Unknown Regions of the Galaxy.

6Clawcraft

The Imperial Clawcraft was known as the Nssis-Class Clawcraft. It was part of the joint venture between the Imperials and the Chiss. Inspired by Thrawn himself, the sharing of technology led to this fascinating ship. The Clawcraft was a Chiss design that took ideas from Imperial ships, such as theTIE-Fighter’s classic spherical cockpit.

The Clawcraft had a unique design and made itself a memorable part of several Legends stories. There weren’t many classes such as this one which became such a big part of stories in the events followingReturn of the Jedi. However, the Clawcraft was one of the most memorable.

5Sun Crusher

There are many items, characters, and even events that were somewhat replicated in the sequel trilogy ofStar Warsmovies from the Legends canon. The Sun Crusher was a super weapon developed at a secret installation that could cause a star to go Supernova, thus destroying the entire system of planets around it.

The Sun Crusher was no bigger than a Starfighter, but it was nearly indestructible and totally devastating. The sequel trilogy instead used Starkiller Base, which absorbed the power of a star and then fired it out across the galaxy to destroy systems. However, there is definitely some inspiration taken from the Sun Crusher.

4Nebula Class Star Destroyer

The New Republic must seem like a bit of a letdown to manyStar Warsfans. The government that came out of the ashes of the Empire was destroyed easily inThe Force Awakens, and always needed someone to rescue them from trouble in the Legends' canon as well.

However, there were times, like when they built the Defender/Nebula-Class Star Destroyer when they proved their worth.Smaller than other Star Destroyer classesbut built to take on even the stronger Imperial Star Destroyers, this class came out around ten years after the fall of the Empire and helped massively throughout Legends canon stories. The first ship released from this class was actually called the Obi-Wan.

3Fury Class Interceptor

Another ship from the era of the Old Republic, the Fury Class Interceptor was used during the Great Galactic War after the Sith Empire returned to the Galaxy. Designed by Sith Lords, the design of this ship was based on the need for speedy strikes in battle. Sith forces had the advantage in their preparations that they knew the war was coming.

One concept artist who helped design the Fury Class described it as a cross between a TIE interceptor and the Millennium Falcon. The Fury Class was a design out of aStar Warsfan’s dream, and it was frequently used in theKnights of the Old Republic, a game that ended upbecoming legendary in the franchise.

2The Outrider

Dash Rendar was essentially introduced into theStar WarsUniverse because Han Solo was frozen in carbonite during some of the Legends work like theShadows of the Empireseries. Rendar was a Corellian smuggler whose ship, the Outrider, was nearly a match for the Millennium Falcon.

The Outrider was a YT-2400 light freighter, albeit one which Dash had heavily modified. In lieu of having Han around throughout this part of the franchise, Dash and the Outrider made a great name for themselves and are well-remembered by manyStar Warsfans. It was even later introduced somewhat into the canon after getting added to a background shot in a special edition ofA New Hope.
