Summary
Insomniac Games has acknowledged a strange Easter Egg inMarvel’s Spider-Man 2, hinting that it could mean Daredevil might show up in a future update or DLC. The threeSpider-Mangames that Insomniac has made so far are impressive open-world experiences, filled with interesting details and Easter Eggs. Daredevil is just one example. Considering how manySpider-Manallies and villains have yet to make an appearance, Daredevil may not have been a character fans would have expected. But Daredevil may be Insomniac’s next pick.
In both the original InsomniacSpider-Mangame and itsMiles Moralesfollow-up, anotable Daredevil Easter Egg can be found. There’s a building in Hell’s Kitchen with a plaque on the front reading, “Nelson and Murdock,” a reference to Daredevil’s humble law firm. There was also an auspicious pink flier on the nearby door with the word “NOTICE” legible that fans believed was an eviction. InSpider-Man 2, the supposed eviction notice was still there, but Nelson and Murdock’s names were removed from the sign.
IGN recently took the opportunity to ask Insomniac creative director Bryan Intihar about theSpider-Man 2Easter Eggin the latest Beyond podcast. Asked about the Nelson and Murdock sign, in the hopes of clarifying whether it was intentional or a mistake, Intihar responded in an eyebrow-raising fashion. He said, “That’s a good question. Stay tuned. Good find though.” In other words, Intihar is telling fans that their question might be answered in the future.
The original InsomniacSpider-Mangame featured three DLC chapters, which included a variety of key characters. Black Cat, Hammerhead, Wraith, and Silver Sable all have key roles in the DLC. In other words, it’s realistic to imagineSpider-Man 2will also receive DLC introducing or expanding on other Marvel characters. That isn’t guaranteed, however, as theMiles Moralesgame did not receive story DLC.
To be clear, there are no confirmed DLC plans forSpider-Man 2at this point in time. There is a lot of speculation about DLC possibilities, though. One storyline that revolves around a cult that worships someone namedThe Flame could easily lead intoSpider-Man 2DLC. Without further confirmation from Insomniac, it’s unfortunately all speculation.
The future is an open door for Insomniac regarding its next direction for theSpider-Manfranchise.Spider-Man 2is the fastest-selling game ever made by PlayStation.Spider-Man 2DLC, a new mid-quel likeMiles Morales, or jumping directly into developingSpider-Man 3would each be uniquely successful. Odds are, Daredevil will fit into those plans one way or another.
