Ubisoft reveals thatSouth Park: The Fractured But Wholehas been delayed yet again, with the much-wanted title now being pushed back into the next fiscal year.

2017 is certainly shaping up to be an incredibly strong year for video games, as shown by the2017 game release schedule. With titles such asMass Effect: AndromedaandRead Dead Redemption 2set to arrive over the course of the year, it’s no wonder that gamers have been working out exactly what games they will need to allocate time to based on their release dates. However, some gamers may find a little bit of extra time during 2017, asSouth Park: The Fractured But Wholehas been delayed once more, calling its 2017 release date into question.

This news comes courtesy of Ubisoft, with the publisher revealing this change to the release schedule ofSouth Park: The Fractured But Wholein its most recent earnings report. In the report, Ubisoft announced that the title is now due for release in the next fiscal year for the publisher, meaning that it could launch any time between April 2017 and March 2018. This means it has been pushed back from its previous estimated release date of the first quarter of 2017.

This has actually led toUbisoftdampening its sales expectations for 2016-2017. The earnings report, which can be accessed on theUbisoft earnings page, has revealed that the previous sales estimate of between $1.71 billion and $1.78 billion has now been reduced to between $1.55 billion and $1.59 billion. “This revision takes into account the sales figure for the third quarter of 2016-17 and the fact thatSouth Park: The Fractured But Wholewill now be released in fiscal 2017-18,” states the report.

This isn’t the first time thatSouth Park: The Fractured But Wholehas been subject to delays, either. The game was originally slated for a late 2016 release, before its launch was pushed back into thefirst quarter of 2016. At the time, the reason for the delay was so that the development team could “make sure the game experience meets the high expectations of fans,” but no word has been given as to why the title has seen another delay.

Fans ofSouth Park: The Stick of Truthand of the franchise in general will no doubt be disappointed to hear that the release has been pushed back, particularly with the game sitting as one of themost anticipated games of 2017. Hopefully, the game will still see release this year, and fans will ideally get a better idea of a release window from Ubisoft in the coming months.

So far,South Park: The Fractured But Wholeis shaping up to be a more than welcome successor toThe Stick of Truth. Gamers have been enticed by details of the title revealed thus far, such as theCoon Conspiracy trailerand thegameplay footagethat has been released. Here’s hoping that the extra time in development will prove to make the overall experience an even better one for fans.

South Park: The Fractured But Wholeis currently scheduled for release in the 2017-2018 fiscal year for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
