A fan ofPokemon Scarlet and Violethas shared their hatred for one of the game’s Elite Four and found that many other players are of the same opinion. The general view among fans ofPokemon Scarlet and Violetseems to be that, while the Pokemon League is forgettable and challenging, one member seems to be particularly out of place.
It is no secret that the Elite Four and Champion of the Paldea region are deemed by many to be the most uninspired aspects of the latestPokemontitles by many, with some fans going so far as to try and fix the ridiculously weak team ofPokemon Scarlet and VioletTop Champion Geeta. While all of the Elite Four can be met throughout the game prior to them taking on the player inside the Pokemon League building, only Larry seems to have grown on thePokemonfanbase, who have formed such a strong dislike of one of Paldea’s elite trainers that they would like to “punt her to the moon.”

Taking to Reddit, user Kriticul150 found themselves asking other players if they also hated Poppy, a child prodigy and the second member of the Elite Four. Kriticul cited her creepy appearance as the primary source of their hatred, with Poppy looking like an uncanny mix of a five and fifty-year-old who has somehow developed a complete mastery of Steel-type Pokemon despite sometimes struggling to piece together intelligible sentences. Despite thePokemon Scarlet and VioletElite Four already being a mixed bag, the addition of Poppy makes it less immersive and almost unsettling for many.
In the comments, another user pointed out an inconsistency that arises due to the presence of Poppy in the Elite Four. Throughout the game, characters make a big deal out of the player due to their Pokemon battling prowess at such a young age, as is typical of the franchise, yet it can be questioned whether this is really out of the ordinary when thePokemon Scarlet and VioletAcademyand Elite Four are also brimming with young prodigies, such as Nemona and Poppy.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violetarguably possess the most consistently powerful set of young trainers since Red and Blue in 2009, with thefinal battle of thePokemon Scarlet and VioletVictory Road storylinebeing against rival Nemona rather than seasoned champion Geeta, so it can feel quite inconsistent when the player is revered to such an extent despite taking a well-trodden path towards the Pokemon League - especially when a key member of said league is half their age.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violetare available now for Nintendo Switch.
