WhileThe Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrimhas aged over the years, though mods are keeping the game looking more up to date, it’s still a visually impressive title, with its glorious vistas and mountainous regions caked in thick snow. Probably one of this installment’s most pleasing looking areas is the exterior parts ofSolitude which is built onto the very rock in Haafingar. Approaching the enormous arching rock that the city sits on for the first time is a stunning moment for most players, and possibly for that reason, one fan decides to share a painting they’ve done of it.

Uploading the image to theSkyrimsubReddit recently, user LongFineArt has shown off their painterly prowess with a watercolor painting that depicts the distinctive city of Solitude. The painting has been done from a distance, with the “player” stood on the docks, most likely by the Karth river. What’s interesting about it is the color scheme they’ve used suggests the scene occurs either at dusk or dawn, with the sky a soft purple and the sun just behind the city. They’ve even gone to the trouble of adding in the in-game compass.

The user says they’ve been doing a painting every single day for Inktober, a yearly event that challenges people to create artwork throughout the month of October to help improve their skills. LongFineArt says they’ve been doing paintings for their favorite movies and games, with thispiece ofSkyrimfan artbeing their latest work. Although the Reddit thread has not had many comments, those that have posted have praised the artwork, with one person even saying that part of the painting reminds them of anObliviongate.

TheElder Scrollsfan base is replete with talented individuals who are keen to express their interest in the series, and portray them for the community. A few months back, oneSkyrimdid a fantastic painting of the Lydia, one of the game’s most notorious followers. The painting depicted Lydia in an action pose, shield raised, protecting the Dragonborn, as is her dedicated quest within the game’s story.

At this point,Skyrimis getting on a bit, and many are perhaps growing a little impatient over the lack of news on the next installment in the franchise. WithElder Scrolls 6probably not coming out for at least a couple more years, all fans can do is wait. In the meantime, people like LongFineArt can continue to pump out impressive artwork that still shows there is some love left for the most recent game.
