There are a handful of great weapons to find and use in Resident Evil: Village. Many of them feature attachments that not only change their physical appearance but also increase their stats, affecting things like damage output, reload speed, accuracy, and more. Theseattachments are scattered all throughout Ethan’s adventure, with some hiding in treasure chests and secret locations, while otherscan be purchased directly from The Duke’s shop.

There are alsoCharmsavailable for a variety of weapons. These (fairly strange) trinkets attach to weapons and don’t offer any stat buffs. They are there solely to make the gun look better (or sometimes worse). Getting aCharmfor the first time is exciting and you’ll likely want to equip it to your weapon as soon as possible. Unfortunately, some players have expressed regret for doing so as some of these trinkets look pretty silly. Butis it possible to take an attachment off once you’ve slotted it to your gun?

Can You Remove Attachments?

Ethan has a variety of different guns at his disposal, andeach one can be upgraded at The Duke’s shop. You’ll be able to pick and choose whether you want more reload speed for a particular gun, better damage, an increased capacity, and more. All of these upgrades can be added (with stronger variants being unlocked via The Duke as you progress through the game) as long as you have enough Lei to afford them.

Weapon attachments, however, are handled a bit differently in Resident Evil: Village. During your journey, you’ll come across a variety of attachments for some of Ethan’s arsenal. These attachments can be added to your weapon and will offer specialized buffs (an example being theRecoil Compensatorthat increases damage output for theLEMI Handgun). Each weapon has its own unique attachments and it’s important to note that each attachment will only work on a specific gun. For example, theRecoil Compensatorfor theLEMIcannot be used on any otherHandgun.

Once an attachment has been slotted on a weapon, it’s there forever. Sadly, there is no option to remove a particular attachment from a gun, but each attachment offers positive buffs. There likely isn’t a situation in which you wouldn’t want to use a particular attachment and thanks to them being gun-specific, you don’t have to worry about wasting an attachment on a gun you won’t use later on.

It’s also important to note that you can sell any weapons you don’t plan on using to The Duke. Thereisn’t a way to store weapons in Resident Evil: Village, so selling them is theonly way to free up inventory space. It’s a stress-free process, though, since The Duke will always let you buy back any weapons you’ve sold to him, and they will come complete with all the attachments you put on them.

Can You Remove Charms?

Charmsare a cute novelty and some of them are so entertaining that you’ll be happy to see themeach time you pull out a particular weapon. But there are others that are too comical, too strange, or just too distracting. Unfortunately, like attachments,Charms cannot be removed from a gun once you have activated them.

Thankfully, there is a way to “remove” the Charms through in-game settings:

Once you’ve done that, you won’t be forced to see theCharmsyou’ve activated. Unfortunately, that means you’ll be hiding ALL WeaponCharms, even the ones you like. Thankfully, though, there have only beenCharmsreleased viaPre-Order Bonusesso far so you don’t have to worry about finding something spectacularly cool in-game. Hopefully, we’ll see an option to un-equipCharmsin the future.
