Pokemon GOdeveloper Niantic has been testing theEX Raid battle systemover the past few weeks. Niantic plans to roll out the feature worldwide, but before that global launch, the developer must gather feedback from players in order to ensure that EX Raids are working as intended.
Astesting continues in set locations, Niantic has now announced one major area for improvement for the EX Raid battles. On Twitter, the official Niantic Help account thankedPokemon GOplayers for their feedback on the feature and said that the team is “working to improve the invitation system based on what we heard from you”.
It’s unclear exactly how the invitation system may change as a result of the feedback. But in the replies to the tweet and elsewhere on social media, players have been vocal about what tweaks they would like to see. For example, many fans have asked that invites be sent out at a much better time as it’s unacceptable for an EX Raid to take place at midday on a weekday as most people have work or school to attend. Sure, players want to take part in aMewtwo EX Raidbut they don’t want to take the day off to do so.
Many fans are also frustrated with how often EX Raid battle passes are sent out. Some players say that they have taken part in ‘hundreds’ of normal raids and have fulfilled all of the requirements to receive an EX Raid battle pass and yet they have never received one. The disgruntledPokemon GOplayer say that it currently feels as though the passes are being sent out ‘at random’ and would like to know what - if anything - they can do to get themselves a greater chance of receiving a pass.
Meanwhile, other players are just asking for the invite-only system to be scrapped altogether. There is already enough divide as it is (e.g thetreatment ofPokemon GOrural playerscompared to those in cities) and the EX Raid battle system only makes it worse.
Although it’s unlikely that Niantic will ditch the EX Raid battle feature altogether, the developer certainly has its work cut out for it. There are over 500 millionPokemon GOplayers around the world, each with something to say about the game’s upcoming and in-development features. Making all of them happy isn’t an easy task but it’s positive to know that the developer is listening.
