Summary
Poke Balls easily represent one of the most iconic items in both thePokemonseries itself as well as in the larger realm of gaming, and a few inventive fans of the series have worked together to create a variety of their own custom Poke Ball designs complete with unique designs and catching modifiers. Though many who aren’t invested in thePokemonfranchise may be under the impression that the standard red and white Poke Ball is the only version, there’s actually a wide range of different Poke Ball types seen throughout the games.
The typical Poke Ball may be the cheapest and most common version of the device, butPokemonfans looking to add some bigger beasts to their partiesusually need to resort to something a little more capable. To this end, Great Balls and Ultra Balls offer much greater odds of a successful catch across the board, but more niche ball types such as Dusk Balls, Dive Balls, and Net Balls make it easier to catch Pokemon of certain types, or Pokemon that live in certain environments.

The growing list of distinct Poke Ball variants often inspires fans to create some new ones of their own, and a small group ofPokemonenthusiasts recently designed six awesome custom ball types. Shared on social media by the user AxoKnight6, these concepts include the Beginner Ball, which provides a significantly increased chance of catching Pokemon under level 10; the Gold Ball, which boosts prize money earned from battles; the Magnet Ball, which provides a superior catch rate forElectric or Steel-type Pokemon; the Chain Ball, which becomes more likely to catch each time it’s used; the Birthday Ball, which has a 100% catch rate on the player’s birthday; and the amusing Dubious Ball - a knockoff of the Master Ball which has a high chance to catch, but will faint the target if it fails.
What These Custom Poke Ball Concepts Look Like
Each of these concepts feature their own fantastic designs as well, and while some of them might be a little game-breaking if they were actually available to use in the games, they nonetheless make for some interesting concepts that many fans would no doubt like to see made official infuture installments of thePokemonseries. The creator of these designs also noted that two fans, bradybee999 and Adept_Animator_2876, collaborated to create the Birthday Ball.
Excludingthose only obtainable inPokemon Legends: Arceus, there’s a total of 28 unique Poke Ball types available throughout the core-series games, most of which are obtainable only by picking them up in the world or by purchasing them from specific vendors. While little is yet known about the upcomingPokemon Legends: Z-Aset to launch sometime next year, many fans have speculated that the title could introduce even more new Poke Ball types similar to those seen in the game’s predecessor.
