The introduction of Paradox Pokemon in the latest installments of thePokemonfranchise has inspired an influx of new creative projects from the community, with one fan recreating the fan-favorite Walking Wake in a style based on the sprites used inPokemon Gold and Silver. The dinosaur-like Paradox Pokemon based on the legendary beast Suicune rapidly caught the attention ofPokemonfans after it was first revealed alongside Iron Leaves during this year’s Pokemon Presents event.
First encountered in the most recent Generation 9 titles,Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, Paradox Pokemon are mysterious alternate forms for certain Pokemon that sport distinctive deviations from their original designs. Each version has an entirely different variety of Paradox Pokemon to offer, with many of these unusual Pokemon’s designs being based on futuristic concepts and others inspired by prehistoric creatures instead.Two new Paradox Pokemon, based on the legendary Pokemon Suicune and Virizion respectively, were recently brought to the game after their announcement on Pokemon Day, and are obtainable via limited-time Tera Raid events that will run until July 27, 2025.

Thanks to the popularity of these legendary Paradox Pokemon, it’s no surprise that many fans have stretched their creative muscles by designing a wide variety of artwork featuring these new forms. One fan on Reddit under the username imdfantom showed their appreciation for Walking Wake in particular by creating a Generation 2-style sprite for the Pokemon, sharing their work via a post on the site for other enthusiasts of the classicPokemongames to appreciate. It’s not uncommon to see similar designs from the community thatreimagine some of the newer Pokemonin the style of the older games' graphics, especially as a sizeable number of fans prefer the classic animated sprites over the newer 3D models.
Even aside from Paradox Pokemon,Pokemon Scarlet and Violetbrought a considerable number of new creaturesto the world ofPokemon. Over 100 new species are discoverable across the vast Paldea region, with even more on the way in the recently-announced DLC packs coming for the games later this year. Although many details remain vague, the upcomingThe Teal MaskandThe Indigo Diskexpansions are set to release sometime in Fall and Winter respectively, with each one promising the addition of brand-new Pokemon in environments beyond the Paldea region.
Though the reveal of this additional future content has sparked plenty of new discussion between fans, many in the community remain unhappy with the technical quality of the games. Though the recent1.2 update forPokemon Scarlet and Violetpromised to improve performance, many players have claimed that frame rate issues persist in addition to even further-compromised graphical quality.
