Pokemon Brilliant DiamondandPokemon Shining Pearl, like recent games in thePokemonseries, have made strides to ensure that the remakes are as accessible as they can be. With having theEXP Share functionality permanently turned on, whether fans like it or not, and the quality-of-life features added,Brilliant DiamondandShining Pearlare some of the most user-friendlyPokemongames out there, but that doesn’t mean that players shouldn’t expect a few tricks from the developers.
In the originalPokemon DiamondandPearlfor the Nintendo DS back in 2007, there was a particular NPC named Mindy that can be found in a home in Snowpoint City. This city is where players will have to battle against theseventh Gym Leader of the Sinnoh region, Candice. Upon speaking to Mindy, players will quickly realize that she wants to trade her Ghost-type Haunter for the Fighting/Psychic-type Pokemon Medicham. Typically, a Pokemon like Haunter will evolve into its following form, Gengar, via a trade, whether that’s with a real player online or with one of the game’s NPCs. However, this trade with Mindy isn’t what players think it is.

Pokemon Brilliant DiamondandPokemon Shining Pearlplayers need to take caution before accepting the trade with Mindy. The issue is that, even though Haunter would normally evolve through trading, Mindy has attached an Everstone to the Haunter, which prevents the Pokemon from evolving in any way. What makes it all worse for players is that once the trade is over, and the Haunter ends up in the player’s party, Mindy will admit to putting the Everstone on the Haunter, and players cannot trade back with her.
Luckily, obtaining a Medicham in eitherBrilliant DiamondorShining Pearlisn’t that hard, as it can be found in a few different locations, such as Victory Road, Route 217, and Mt. Coronet. Players that have already traded with Mindy shouldn’t be too upset at her trick. Players can always remove theEverstonefrom Mindy’s Haunter and then connect with a friend online to make a trade and then trade back to get Gengar.
If players wonder what level the Haunter is, Mindy will trade it while it’s Level 33. The Haunter knows Shadow Ball, Payback, Sucker Punch, and Confuse Ray.
