One Piecehas serialized over a thousand chapters, and it is clear that Oda does not plan on stopping anytime soon. If the Wano Country arc taught the audience anything, it was the world ofOne Pieceis rapidly changing as things have started to stir up once again. The first major incident that took place in the series was the Summit War, and several big names participated in it. Ever since that storm passed away, the tides of the world have never been still, and they have continued to shift.
One of the more recent examples of the world’s ongoing change was the abolishment of the Shichibukai system. The system has existed for ages, but with the complaints against the Shichibukai racking up, the World Government had to take drastic action, and they decided to dissolve the system. This decision had far-reaching effects, as the once safe Shichibukai were now punishable by law. At the time of the system’s abolishment, there were five members and one of them was Boa Hancock.

Dark Past
Boa Hancock is the leader of the Kuja Pirates and the empress of Amazon Lily. She was introduced in the Amazon Lily arc. From her first few appearances, Boa came off as an extremely arrogant person, who was drunk on power. However, as the story began to unfold it became glaringly obvious that Boa detested the world to a certain extent. When she was young, Boa and her sisters were captured and sold to the World Nobles. It was at this time that Boa was forcefully fed the Mero Mero no Mi by the nobles.
Luckily for Boa and her sisters, Fisher Tiger invaded the land of Mary Geoise and freed all the slaves. The three sisters returned home, but their bodies were covered withthe mark of the Celestial Dragons, and it served as a reminder to all of them to never rely on anyone else ever again. Boa grew up to be a cold and distrustful person. She hated almost everyone, but that changed after she met Luffy. Luffy’s innocence won over her heart and she fell in love with him. At Luffy’s behest, Boa even risked going to Impel Down.

The Pirate Empress
Often in debates about powerful characters, Boa’s name is overlooked, which is quite shocking. Boa was given the opportunity tojoin the Shichibukai just after her first voyage. This proves that the World Government knew that she could become a serious problem in the future, so they wasted no time in ensuring that they got on Boa’s good side. Despite her hatred toward the World Government, Boa accepted the offer as it meant that Amazon Lily would be safe from the Marines.
Boa is an exceptionally talented fighter, who can give the strongest characters a run for their money. When it comes to her devil fruit ability, Boa Hancock possesses an absurdly powerful devil fruit that allows her to turn other people and objects to stone. The devil fruit works on the feelings of lust that other people have in their hearts, and once Boa hits them with an attack, they immediately become petrified.

There is not much a person can do to avoid the effects of her attack except for trying to distract themselves with pain. The other way is to not harbor such feelings, but there is only a small fraction of people, who fall into this category.
In addition to her devil fruit,Boa can also use all three types of Haki, making her a part of an illustrious list. Her proficiency with Haki remains to be seen, but considering the Kuja are known for their mastery of Haki it is fair to assume that Boa’s Haki is quite refined. While Boa’s new bounty remains unknown, it is likely that it will fall into the region of 1.5-2 billion berries, which would put her above the likes of Zoro, Sanji, and Jimbei.
What Does The Future Hold?
The last time the audience saw Boa, Amazon Lily was surrounded by the Marines. She reassured her subjects that there was no reason to fret as the Marines were aware of Amazon Lily’s power. But, the Marines outnumber the pirates, and it will only be a matter of time before they will have to surrender.
Clearly, fighting the Marines over a long period is a bad idea, so the responsibility to find a solution falls on the shoulders of Boa, and given the current circumstances, the smartest choice would be to pledge loyalty to Luffy and join the Straw Hat Grand Fleet. After joining the fleet, Luffy could claim Amazon Lily as his territory, which would put it under his protection.Even the World Governmentisn’t daring enough to attack the territories of a Yonko, so this would be the most logical solution to Boa’s problem.
This would also mean that Boa Hancock would become the strongest member of the Grand Fleet. One would think that Boa is too arrogant to even consider this option, but given the fact that Luffy is the only person she openly trusts, it is not entirely impossible. In the past, there have been theories that speculate Boa might join the Straw Hat Pirates, but it seems like a long shot asYamato looked set to join the crew, only for Oda to change it.
Yamato’s future is still up in the air, so it would be naive to think that Boa would join the crew without any prior development. Whatever the case might be, it is obvious that Boa has got a role to play in the final saga, otherwise, there would have been no point in saving her all this time.
