Player First Games' platform fighterMultiVersusrecently entered its first season despite still being in the open beta stage and the game still has a handful of kinks that may need to be ironed out. OneMultiVersusfan has shared a clip of a massive problem with Morty’s hit box that could leave some players frustrated that their hits aren’t connecting.
MultiVersusSeason 1began earlier this month, and it brought with it numerous balance changes to the live-service title, a Battle Pass full of fresh cosmetics, new characters like Rick and Morty, and more. Because manyMultiVersusplayers are now getting to fight other prominent Warner Bros. characters as Morty, some are formulating ideal strategies for the Brawler and others are noting problems with some of his attacks. Reddit user ThunderTRP shared aMultiVersusclip yesterday in which they’re fighting against Shaggy as Morty in the Training arena with limited success to highlight specific issues with Morty’s hit box.

ThunderTRP’sMultiVersusclip begins with the player landing back on the main Training platform before performing another jump attack that inflates one of Morty’s arms for a powerful fist slam that never hits. Although Morty’s arm is clearly able to connect with the opponent’s head, it clips through Shaggy for the entire attack rather than colliding with the top of the character model. After slowing down theMultiVersusfootage, it’s noticeable in ThunderTRP’s video just how much of the opponent theBrawler move from Mortysimply phases through as the arm extends to Shaggy’s furthest shoulder.
Part of Morty’s attack in ThunderTRP’s clip shows a purple swipe that reflects the player’s color and doesn’t reach as far as the character’s fist does, but it still slashes across Shaggy’s frame without causing any collision or damage. This difference highlights that even if players ignore the unique animation for Morty’s attack that may be more accentuated than other characters, it should have still hit Shaggy by following the purple trajectory. SomeMultiVersuscharacters that had similar problems ahead of the launch of Season 1 include Taz and a combination ofJake the Dog and Velma, which may bode well forRick and Mortyfans that are hoping for a fix to the Brawler’s hit box.
Based on the response to ThunderTRP’s video, they aren’t the firstMultiVersusplayer to notice this issue with Morty and other characters, while some suggest that it’s more common for hits to unfairly register than for them to be ignored. Many fans expressed hope that ThunderTRP’s clip will play a role in Morty or theunreleasedMultiVersuscharacter Rickbeing improved, and others lamented that Jab 3 is specifically unreliable in competitive combat.
MultiVersusis available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
