After the exciting Game Awards trailer in December, fans finally got their first look atMortal Kombat 11a few weeks ago during the gameplay reveal event. New details and brutal gameplay were finally shown off including new Fatal Blow finisher moves, expanded customization options, a brief look at the campaign, and the trademark, over the top violent finishers. Part of the roster was also revealed, mixing newcomers like Geras withreturning fighters like Skarlet, but there is one character that is gaining a lot of attention despite not being revealed last week.

Earlier this week, NetherRealm Studio’s co-founder and currentMortal Kombat 11creative director, Ed Boon, posted an image from talented artist BossLogic featuring actor Terry Crews reimagined as Jax. Boon’s Twitter post also tagged Terry, who eventually saw the image and clearly got excited by the prospect of making it happen. It’s unknown what or if this will lead to anything, but with Ronda Rousey already assuming the role of Sonya Blade, it’s not out of the realm of possibility.

While the cameo certainly appears to be picking up steam across the Internet, fans shouldn’t expect to see something like this on day one. While it’s unknown if Jax is even going to make the launch roster,Mortal Kombat 11is now just a few months away. With development nearly complete, it’s more likely that NetherRealm Studios could make this happen as future DLC in a similar way to theCarl Weathers voiced Jax skinthat was released post-launch forMortal Kombat X. Then again, Ed Boon is known to be a massive troll when teasing upcoming content, so he could just as well be feigning ignorance for the sake of keeping fans guessing.

Either way, it’s clear that NetherRealm does have a couple more surprises in store for fans. In a recent interview during theMortal Kombat 11reveal event, Boon teased that the game will feature at least one more surprising and recognizable face for a yet to be revealed character. The roster is still a big question mark for fans, though fans should definitely expect to see more returning characters make the roster, like the recently teased speedster, Kabal. Some members at Netherrealm have also teased theinclusion of secret characters in the game, a longtime staple of the franchise like Reptile from the first game and Jade fromMortal Kombat II.

Mortal Kombat 11will launch on April 23 for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
