Everybody knows whoThe Avengersare by now — between rampant MCU fever and the constant buzz around it, it’s practically impossible not to. So it likely goes without saying that therecent release ofMarvel’s Avengershas the fandom hyped beyond belief. The game ropes Kamala Khan (AKA Ms. Marvel) into the proper main cast, which is delightful, but many fans don’t know much about her — considering she’s a fantastic character that plays a huge role in the story, fans may want to know more about her and the obvious overlap she has with the more well-known Captain Marvel.

That said, over their many years in existence, the other Avengers have also been fleshed out in ways that even dedicated fans might not be totally aware of. So let’s take a deep dive into details about the main characters ofMarvel’s Avengersthat fans might not know about.
10Carol Danvers Was The Original Ms. Marvel
Kamala Khan takes up the superhero mantle ofMs. Marvel, which is obviously very similar to Captain Marvel. That’s not just a coincidence! Carol Danvers (who is now known as Captain Marvel) was actually initially called Ms. Marvel since her mentor, a Kree named Mar-Vell, was the original Captain Marvel. With us so far?
Several people would rotate through the title of “Captain Marvel” after its original holder, Mar-Vell, perished. Eventually, Danvers herself would finally adopt the moniker.

9Hulk Can See The Paranormal
Hulk (AKA Bruce Banner) had an abusive relationship with his father. Bruce was so terrified of his dad haunting him after he died that it led to him being able to see ghosts — this was first highlighted inThe Incredible Hulk #370comic.

Hulk overcame the fear of his father’s ghost by… literally traveling into Hell to beat him up. However, he has still had paranormal interactions with the ghostly spirit of Maestro, who tried to absorb Hulk’s radiation at one point. He was also able to see Dr. Strange in his astral state.
8Iron Man Is An Alcoholic
Iron Man is portrayed as a suave, sophisticated, sarcastic bad-ass who saves the world time and time again. However, he certainly has some deep-seated issues that many people do not know about. A must-read is theDemon In A Bottlecomic, which perfectly encapsulates the struggleTony Starkgoes through with his addiction to alcohol.
The reason many people don’t know about his struggle is due to Disney not wanting children to seeIron Manbattling an addiction such as alcoholism. However, it is certainly a flaw that fleshes out his character and provides a humanizing lens on the larger-than-life hero.

7Black Widow Was Born In The 1920s
Originally, Black Widow was born in 1928, which was revealed inDaredevil #88in 1972. She was orphaned after an attack on Stalingrad during WWII, which ended up with her being inducted into a secret USSR sleeper agent program.
As a result, she was trained by the best female assassins, brainwashed, and fed false memories which all resulted in her becoming the bad-ass assassin that she is today. You canfind an easter eggthat relates to all of this in Black Widow’s roominMarvel’s Avengers.

6Captain America Can Master Any Weapon Within Seconds
Everybody knows that Captain America is a bad-ass who could take on anyone with his trusty shield. However, you may not know that he can become an expert with any weapon in the world in a matter of mere seconds(though he’s not so hot on guns these days).
While he may stick to his shield most of the time, this goes to show that he always has a considerable arsenal at his disposal. No matter the time or place, he can figure out how to use whatever’s available. He was even able to wield Thor’s hammer, after all.

5Thor Can Speak All Languages At Once
Thor is well known for his strength and power in the Avengers. However, many people don’t know that Thor is actually a master of all languages. Thor possesses the power of’All Tongue’which means that he can be understood by any being in the world, no matter the language.

This also means he can communicate with other beings from beyond Earth effectively and with ease — he was able to communicate with Groot from Guardians Of The Galaxy, for example. So if the Avengers ever need a helping hand communicating with someone then Thor is the go-to guy.
4J.A.R.V.I.S Was Based On A Real Person
J.A.R.V.I.S plays a big role in the new Avengers game, as he helps reform the group. Many people just view J.A.R.V.I.S as a fancy A.I construct which has been programmed by Tony Stark. But in actual fact, J.A.R.V.I.S was based on Tony’s childhood butler — Edwin Jarvis — which was revealed inTales Of Suspense #59,way back in the 1960s.
J.A.R.V.I.S may stand for ‘Just a Rather Very Intelligent System,’ but this factoid paints it in a different, more sentimental light.

3Kamala Has An Alien Costume
Kamala returned from space with a brand new alien suit during the comicMs. Marvel #5. Luckily for Kamala, the suit benefited her rather than doing anything dangerous. It is made from responsive Kree Nano-technology, keeping her well-protected in even the diciest situations.

Another cool fact about the costume is that it transforms into a backpack when it isn’t being worn. Therefore, Kamala can easily carry it around and put it on whenever she needs it. Surely this costume has to become available in the game at some point, as it is such a cool concept and many fans would love to use it.
2Hulk Can Breathe Underwater
As well as being super strong and being able to see ghosts, Hulk can also breathe underwater due to an extra gland in his body, which was revealed inHulk #77. It would be amazing if future DLC allowed you to use Hulk underwater and incorporated this neat little fact. Or they could really swing for the fences and have players guiding the Hulk through a deep-diving adventure to communicate with some ghosts.
1Tony Stark Owns Area 51
Tony Stark revealed during the 19th Avengers comic that he bought Area 51. He tells his fellow Avengers“The government quietly put it up for sale and I bought it.”However, he hasn’t really put it to any use (if you bar using it to hide a reality gem once).
Maybe afuture DLC for the gamecould expand further upon this and potentially implement an Area 51 base for Iron Man that you are able to explore. It may seem like a standard Tony Stark brag, but this little bit of information has some exciting implications.
