After a slight delay,Lethal Companyhas released its highly anticipated Version 55 update, which added the first vehicle to the game. Alongside the Company Cruiser truck,Lethal CompanyVersion 55 also adds two new enemies–the Barber and the Kidnapper Fox–and brings numerous bug fixes and improvements.

Following its release in October 2023,Lethal Companyquickly became one of the most successful indie titles on Steam. Developed and published by Zeekerss,Lethal Companystill retains an overwhelmingly positive rating on the digital storefront at the time of writing. As employees of the titularLethal Company, players are tasked with collecting scrap from different planets to meet a quota and must avoid the hazards and enemies that bar their way. Although the game has official support for up to four players via online co-op, mods have allowed that number to be increased, bringing more chaos into the mix. As a result of its popularity,Lethal Companyrecently collaborated withFortnite, adding “The Employee” outfit to Epic Games' signature title.

The release ofLethal CompanyVersion 55 was pushed back fromits target date of June 25, and the update officially landed on July 7 after a two-week delay. According tothe patch notes,Lethal Companyadded the game’s first vehicle, a moving truck dubbed the Company Cruiser. This truck can be driven by one player and can haul other players and scrap to and from the Company Ship. However, the Company Cruiser can also be attacked by enemies, take damage from hazards, and potentially explode and kill everyone aboard. In addition to the Company Cruiser,Lethal Companyalso included two new enemy entities in the patch for players to avoid.

Lethal CompanyVersion 55 also addressed some desync problems related to the Nutcracker enemy and mechs. Issues related to inconsistentdamage numbers on weaponswere also remedied, along with a fix for a bug that would softlock a player trying to access an occupied terminal at the same time as another player. According to the expanded patch notes,courtesy of ComicBook, the Jetpack saw its price change from 700c to 900c, and changes were made to the Dine, Artifice, Rend, and Embrion maps.

Withongoing mod supportand fans eager to return with each update,Lethal Companycontinues to be one of Steam’s top indie titles. With updates looking to come out at a faster pace, only time will tell what Zeekerss will add in future patches.

You are a contracted worker for the Company. Your job is to collect scrap from abandoned, industrialized moons to meet the Company’s profit quota. You can use the cash you earn to travel to new moons with higher risks and rewards–or you can buy fancy suits and decorations for your ship. Experience nature, scanning any creature you find to add them to your bestiary. Explore the wondrous outdoors and rummage through their derelict, steel and concrete underbellies. You can guide your crewmates from your ship, using the radar to call out traps and using the ship’s terminal to access remotely locked doors–or you can all go in together. The Company store has many useful tools for the job, including lights, shovels, walkie talkies, stun grenades, or boomboxes.Things get dangerous at night. Communicate with your crewmates to carry all valuables to the ship before things get too dangerous, and try not to leave anyone behind.
