While Deadline broke the news of Ehrenreich joining the cast ofIronheart, it is currently unknown who the actor will be playing. That said, the outlet noted that Ehrenreich was joining the show in a “key role,” though Marvel Studios reportedly declined the comment on the matter. Ehrenreich joins acast that currently includes Anthony Ramos, Harper Anthony, Manny Montana, and Lyric Ross. In most cases the roles of these actors are unknown, but Ross was cast as a character described as Riri’s best friend. In the comics, Riri creates an AI companion called N.A.T.A.L.I.E based on her late friend Natalie, though it remains to be seen if either version of the character is the role Ross will be playing.
Ironheartwill mark Ehrenreich’s first collaboration with Disney, the parent company of Marvel Studios, sinceSolo: A Star Wars Story. Ehrenreich portrayed a young Han Solo in theStar Warsanthology film, but the feature failed to generate the box office revenue expected of the franchise. The disappointing performance actually prompted Lucasfilm to revise its approach to anthology projects and focus on Disney Plus programming instead. While some criticized Ehrenreich’s performance as young Han Solo, others found his portrayal to be excellent and didn’t fault him for the underwhelming response toSolo.
Regardless of howSolofared, Ehrenreich first gained attention for his acclaimed performance as Hobie Doyle in Joel and Ethan Coen’sHail, Caesar! So, those who saw the comedy film are likely aware that Ehrenreich is a talented actor who can certainly bring his skills toIronheartunderthe direction of Sam Bailey and Angela Barnes.
