Hogwarts Legacyhas many secrets andHarry PotterEaster Eggs for players to discover. Players can interact with objects aroundHogwarts Legacy’s beautiful castle to reveal hidden locations not seen in theHarry Pottermovies, such as the Hogwarts kitchen or exploring the secret passage to Hogsmeade through the one-eyed witch passage.

The werewolf tapestry room is another ofHogwarts Legacy’s secret locationsto explore at Hogwarts that’s cleverly hidden behind a disguised doorway. In theHarry Pottermovies and books, werewolves are prominent characters, such as Professor Lupin who was revealed as a werewolf inHarry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. In the franchise’s lore, werewolves are often misunderstood creatures ill-treated by wizardkind. Although wolves and other similar beings play a role in the game,Hogwarts Legacymakes little use of werewolves, which could be a rich area to explore for potential future DLC.

Hogwarts Legacy’s Secret Werewolf Room, Wolves, And Animagus Characters

InHogwarts Legacy’s werewolf tapestry room location, players can see an Easter Egg of a werewolf statue which looks like Professor Lupin’s werewolf form inHarry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. There are also interactable tapestries on the walls that tell the story of a witch bitten by a werewolf. The werewolf tapestry room Easter Egg is the only reference to the lycanthrope form of werewolves in the game. However, though there are packs of wolf enemies for players to fight across many areas of the vast world map and during quests, there’s no suggestion that these creatures are more than standard wolves.

Hogwarts Legacyalso includes NPC Animagi characters who can turn into other creatures at will, such as player companion Natty who can turn into a deer. Furthermore, Poacher Animagus enemies are some ofHogwarts Legacy’s hardest non-boss enemiesas they remain standing after players defeat their Animagus form, effectively giving them two health bars. Players can also come across The Grim Infamous Foe, similar to Sirius Black’s Animagus form, also seen inHarry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Although players can’t become an Animagus in the game, it is pretty cool to witness.

How Hogwarts Legacy Could Include Werewolves In DLC

Becoming a werewolf is not a choice in the lore, as victims unwillingly transform into a werewolf under a full moon. Therefore, it would make less sense for players to possess this ability compared to an Animagus unless the players' character somehow became afflicted with the condition. However, perhaps the simplest werewolf DLC option inHogwarts Legacyis to include werewolves as enemies of boss battles for players to fight, perhaps in spooky map areas like the Forbidden Forest. This enemy addition could add more variety toHogwarts Legacy’s Infamous Foes, especially when most of these battles aren’t necessarily that challenging.

Furthermore, the controversy surrounding werewolves in the magical community could also make for some intriguing side quests if players could encounter or discover werewolves in the game, given the condition is often kept secret from wizardkind. This lore could open up possible mystery side quest lines similar to plot lines like Netflix’sWednesday’s monster mystery, especially when otherHarry Pottergames have explored werewolf mysteries likeHogwarts Mystery’s who is the werewolf?Hogwarts Legacy’s magical setting could be the perfect backdrop to explore some other kinds of mystery storytelling through DLC. Werewolves could also be a fantastic way of exploring different types of stories to add side quest variety while allowing players to understand more about the stigmas surrounding the werewolf condition.

Hogwarts Legacyis available now for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. PS4 and Xbox One versions are due for release on April 4 and July 25 for Nintendo Switch.
