The wait forHalo Infinitefeels, to many, infinite. Microsoft’s epic sci-fi shooter was first shown off at E3 2018, but since then,Halo Infinitehas been delayedand seen some turbulent times. But things are looking up with some recent multiplayer images.
Microsoft and 343 Studios have finally shared therelease period ofHalo Infinite; fall 2021. Along with the launch window, screenshots have also been shared that show off weapons, character customization, scenery, and more. But perhaps the most exciting image is that of multiplayer maps, since thus far fans have not yet seen a thing from that aspect ofHalo Infinite.

The multiplayer community inHalois one that has stretched generations of Xbox consoles. While the campaign ofHalohas often been a jaw-dropping experience, the multiplayer is what keeps players coming back. With that in mind, it’s very exciting to finally see multiplayer screenshots. The remarkableHalo Infinitescreenshotsare rather breathtaking, with beautiful detail. The multiplayer map images, in which there seem to be three, are especially hype-inducing for theHalocommunuty.
Two images are shown of what seems to be an indoor warehouse built for arena-style play. The tight corridors make the map look like a classicHalolevel, perhaps even leaning towardsHalo 3,where shotguns and assault rifles may dominate. It doesn’t seem like the map is one fromBreakout, a mode inHalo 5: Guardians. But it is possible that 343 focuses on smaller arena-style maps for games modes like Breakout.
Another one of the multiplayer images seems to be from a larger scale multiplayer map, taking place outdoors at sunset with the Halo ring in the background. The images look like a far cry from thememe-worthy showing of theHalo Infinitecampaignearlier this year. Altogether, the images of the new multiplayer maps along with screenshots of the classic Sniper Rifle, the Rocket Launcher, and the character customization set the stage for what could be an exciting multiplayer experience when the game drops next year.
Halo Infinitehas the opportunity to be a system seller for the Xbox Series X/S. It is certainly a disappointment to many that fans aren’t able to play the game this holiday season with their new consoles, as was originally planned. However, the additional time may be what is needed to polish up the experience to allow the game to live up to the high standards of the franchise. If these images are proof of anything, the game may be on the right track.
Halo Infinitewill release for PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S in Fall 2021.
