After 3 years, the long awaited new entry in Legendary Pictures’Monsterverse,Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, has finally been released. This titanic new adventure seesGodzillaandKongteaming up once again in order to defeat a common enemy, but one of the biggest surprises in this filmwas the appearance of many other memorable kaijuaside from the titular duo.

Naturally, Godzilla and Kong fight against the big antagonist of this story: TheSkar King. But many other giant monsters were featured throughout the movie, including the reappearance of titans that were previously established in this universe. This is the surprisingly long list ofevery kaiju that appears inGodzilla x Kong: The New Empire.

Kong in Egypt, ready to face Godzilla.

Updated on June 08, 2025, by Julián Fernández Loyarte:This list has been updated, sinceGodzilla x Kong: The New Empireis now available to stream on Max. Now, viewers can see the film’s kaiju in all their true glory. Furthermore, brand-new entries have been added for giant monsters whose roles are more minor: Wart Dogs, the beasts that Kong was hunting at the beginning of the film; Skar King’s army of Great Apes; and the Drownviper, the serpentine kaiju that Kong fights and eats during his journey through Hollow Earth.

11King Kong

The Eighth Wonder Of The World Is A Great Protagonist

The very first kaiju that appears in the movie isKonghimself. Following the events ofGodzilla vs. Kong, this simian titanis now living in Hollow Earth, and he’s looking for other creatures like him because he feels lonely. But when he finds more apes, Kong realizes that they’re under the tyrannical rule of Skar King, so he has to ask Godzilla for help in order to defeat this evil ruler.

Kong is pretty much the main character ofGodzilla x Kong: The New Empire, and he’s featured in several scenes with no dialogue that rely on his impressive special effects, and his detailed expressions make him a really likable protagonist. This time around, Kong looks more experienced and is consistently strong throughout the film, especially after he gets his brand-new weapon: The yellowB.E.A.S.T Glovehe uses to fight the other monsters.

The King Of The Monsters Is Powering Up For The Final Fight

InGodzilla x Kong: The New Empire,Godzillastill acts like a force of nature who is in charge of dealing with any rogue titans on Earth. Since he can sense that something odd is going on down in Hollow Earth, his main role throughout the film is to consume energyin order to become more powerful. Every living being that gets in his way, from humans to other titans, gets completely annihilated.

Despite his role as a secondary character, Godzilla is one of the most thrilling elements in the movie. Seeing him destroy human-made structures and swiftly defeat other titans is a lot of fun. He arguably becomes the most powerful kaiju in the entire film once he reaches his amazing evolved form. This movie and this entire cinematic universe would be nothing without the mighty King of the Monsters.

A pack of Wart Dogs tries to hunt down Kong.

9Wart Dogs

The Hunters Who Ended Up Being Hunted

One of the most interesting aspects about this film is that this was the true first glance at the flora and fauna of Hollow Earth, giving audiences the opportunity to finally meet other creatures that live down there (aside from the very few that were featured inGodzilla vs. Kong). And this is immediately seen with theWart Dogsthat appear in the opening scene.

This is a pack of fierce predators that look like a mix between a wolf and a boar, and, even if this seems to be lost by the immense scale of Hollow Earth, they’re quite huge. The Wart Dogs can be seen trying to hunt down Kong but, unfortunately for them, the giant ape manages to trick them into falling into his traps so he can kill and feed on their corpses instead. The moment in which Kong tears a Wart Dog in halfis one of the goriest scenes in the movie.

Scylla attacks Rome in the middle of the day.

8Scylla

What Happens When Titans Go Rogue

Scyllais a Monsterverse original titanthat was introduced inGodzilla: King of the Monsters. She appears in one of the earlier scenes of this movie, where she can be seen destroying the city of Rome. It doesn’t take long for Godzilla to appear, and both monsters engage in a violent battle.

Despite her impressive size, Scylla was no match for the King of the Monsters, who ultimately makes her explode with a devastating blast of his atomic breath. It was a memorable appearance and a perfect example of how the rules in this world work: when a titan goes out of its territory and threatens humanity, it will have to face Godzilla’s power.

Kong finds the group of Great Apes who are living under Skar King’s tyrannical reign.

7Great Apes

Creatures Similar To Kong Were Living In Hollow Earth All Along

Kong’s main storyline inGodzilla x Kongis centered on him trying to find other members of his species because he feels extremely lonely. Luckily, by going deeply into the lower layers of Hollow Earth, he immediately found a bunch ofGreat Apesthat looked just like him. But tragically, they were very hostile towards him.

As both Kong and the audience would later find out, these Great Apes were part of Skar King’s army, and they were forced to follow the orders of their tyrannical leader. This sadly means that Kong had to fight against his own kind for most of the duration of the film, which must have been quite tragic for him, especially since they even got involved in the initial final battle inside Hollow Earth. However, after defeating Skar King at the end, he freed the other Great Apes and became their new leader.

Suko looks proudly at Kong after helping him fight the other Great Apes.

6Suko

Kong’s New Loyal Sidekick

One of the most intriguing aspects aboutGodzilla x Kongis the introduction of a small infant monster known asSuko(although he’s called Mini-Kong in the film). At first, he and Kong don’t get along;Kong uses his tiny body as a weapon to fight other giant apes, and Suko later tries to trick him so he would get attacked by a giant water snake known as the Drownviper. But the small ape warmed up to Kong, especially after he realized Kong was the only one who could defeat the evil Skar King.

Suko does count as a kaiju because, despite his obviously smaller size when compared to other titans, he is still over 140 feet tall, which is taller than Kong’s height inKong: Skull Island. The relationship between Suko and Kong is truly endearing, and he proves to be an important player in the film’s climactic final battle, so most fans are now hoping that he’ll appear in future installments as well.

Tiamat fights Godzilla and tries to keep him out of her lair.

5Tiamat

A Victim Of Godzilla’s Rampage

When Godzilla was looking for more energy to absorb, he traveled to the Arctic Ocean and raidedTiamat’slair, where the largest stockpile of solar energy in the world resides. The aquatic titan put up a solid fight, and used her long body in order to constrict Godzilla, but he quickly killed Tiamat with a blast of his atomic breath, cutting her into pieces in the process.

Tiamat’s inclusion was special for most Monsterverse fans, since she first appeared in the 2021 graphic novel,Godzilla Dominion. So seeing her on the big screen was great, and showed that these different properties are actually connected to each other. Despite her brief appearance, Tiamat deserves a lot of credit for beingdirectly responsible for Godzilla’s epic new form.

Kong fights the Drownviper in a lake.

4Drownviper

Another Serpentine Kaiju That Became Kong & Suko’s Lunch

Curiously enough, both Godzilla and Kong face off against a serpentine kaiju right at the middle of the film, only to immediately defeat and sever them into pieces. Around the time that the King of the Monsters was fighting Tiamat, Suko tricked Kong into facing theDrownviper.

This gigantic snake-like monster lives in the waters of Hollow Earth and, judging by its size and appearance, it’s quite evident that it posed a huge threat to the giant ape. Although most of their battle was off-screen, Kong managed to kill the Drownviper and tear it into pieces in order to devour it, and he even shared the meat with Suko. This encounter makes sense, though, since King Kong has fought and killed a serpentine creature in almost every single one of his appearances, like the Warbats fromGodzilla vs. Kong.

Skar King gets up from his throne to face Kong.

3Skar King

The most infamous new monster introduced inGodzilla x KongisSkar King, the main antagonist of the movie. He had a huge impact on the lore of this universe even before this film, as it is established that he’s obsessed with conquering the surface, something that he tried to do thousands of years ago before he was stopped by Godzilla.

Skar King is a different type of kaiju, which is greatly appreciated. He’s a tyrannical king who enslaved an entire tribe of giant apes and wants to conquer even more land. He may not be as physically strong as Kong, but he makes up for it with his agility and his deadly Whipslash. This villain becomes even more despicable after it’s revealed that he imprisoned another titan in order to use it as his most powerful weapon. Unlike Godzilla, Kong never had a rival quite like Skar King,so he was an extremely unique addition to this universe.

Skar King uses the crystal to force Shimo into attacking Godzilla and Kong.

2Shimo

A Tragic And Powerful Ice Kaiju

The monster that Skar King manipulates throughout the film isShimo, a powerful titan that can not only shoot a freezing Frost Breath, but is so powerful that it’s stated she was responsible for triggering the Ice Age. Nowadays, she is sadly reduced to being Skar King’s living weapon. Nevertheless, she immediately dominates the movie with her presence, especially after she freezes Kong’s hand.

Shimo is a truly special kaiju, both in terms of her backstory and her design, since she feels like a monster that could have appeared in any otherGodzillamoviemade by Toho. She feels unique because there haven’t been many cryokinetic kaiju in this franchise. Without Shimo, Skar King would’ve never had a chance against Godzilla and Kong in the final battle, and the fact that she was spared in the end was truly relieving. She deserves better.
