As pointed out by Reddit user jakehieu, screenshotting theGod of War Ragnarokwiki, Odin’s ravens were once human children that were sacrificed to the Allfather. The wiki explains how the Raven Keeper has effectively transformed the souls of the sacrificed children into theEyes of Odin ravensthat players can spot throughout the game. The Eyes of Odin are glowing ravens that serve as one ofGod of War Ragnarok’s collectibles, with Kratos having to destroy them to prevent Odin from spying. Knowing the origin of the ravens makes the entire process of hunting down and destroying all of them a great deal more disturbing, to say the least.

The Eyes of Odin are just one method Odin uses to spy on Kratos and Atreus. It was confirmed byGod of War Ragnarokgame director Eric Williams thatone of the dwarves players encounter is actually Odin in disguise. It’s teased that there could be more instances of Odin hiding in the game world in the form of another character, but it would be pretty much impossible to determine who is really Odin in disguise.
One of the biggest twists inGod of War Ragnarokis when it turns out that the Tyr the group “rescued” has actually been Odin the entire time. Odin uses this disguise to keep a close eye onKratos and Atreus, so between that and the Eyes of Odin that are spread throughout the entire game, it seems the Allfather was readily aware of pretty much everything the heroes of the story were doing at any given time.
In any case, the twisted backstory behind Odin’s ravens gives unsettling new context for players who are trying to destroy them all to get 100% and unlock all ofGod of War Ragnarok’s trophies.
God of War Ragnarokis available now for PS4 and PS5.
