Developer miHoYo are reportedly introducing a much-desired feature intoGenshin Impactwith the upcoming patch 2.0 content. Leaks are suggesting ahead of miHoYo’s June 9th showcase that cross-save capabilities will be added toGenshin Impactin the near future.

Cross-save will allow players on prior platform-locked accounts to move onto different platforms. Whilethe release date for the Switch version ofGenshin Impactis still unconfirmed, the changes will reportedly be applicable to it when the Switch port is released, allowing veteranGenshin Impactplayers to carry forward their save between releases.

While the feature has always existed in a limited sense between PC and mobile, and PS4 and PS5, the upcoming changes will allow accounts to be used freely across all platforms, finally allowing PlayStation users to move theirGenshin Impactaccounts onto mobile, and vice-versa.

Whilecross-play has been present inGenshin Impactfrom launch, allowing players from across platforms to play together, cross-save hasn’t, restricting players to the platforms applicable to their original account. PlayStation players have perhaps been hit by this worse than their PC brethren, as PC users can port their saves over to mobile to enjoy the game on the go, whereas PlayStation users have been totally restricted to their home consoles. The upcoming cross-save patch should resolve this discrepancy.

The update is likely to come out alongsideGenshin Impact’s upcoming 2.0 update, coinciding with thefull introduction of the much-awaited island of Inazuma. miHoYo have a planned event for June 9, where more details on Inazuma are likely to be announced. With the leak coming from a prior-accurate source, it’s likely that MiHoYo will also give confirmation on the introduction of full cross-save capability across all platforms.

Fans have beendigging throughGenshin Impacton the lookout for Inazuma newsfor months, and now the wait is almost over. By allowing cross-save on all platforms, miHoYo are making this much-awaited update available for the maximum amount of players possible, at the best quality possible. Notably for mobile players who also have PlayStations, the cross-save update will allow them to enjoy the game on the big screen without controls on the screen.

While miHoYo’s security policy regarding leaks apparently leaves much to be desired,Genshin Impactfans are nonetheless one step ahead of other franchises in terms of knowing what’s next for their title. WhileGenshin Impacthas suffered from some malicious hacking attempts, the majority of leaks forGenshin Impacthave been mundane and, in most cases, simply acted as early, unofficial announcements for upcoming features and content. As unconventional and unofficial as it may be, these generally harmless leaks seem to be a great way to keep the community informed.
