Player Mistakes
Back to All Characters
Understanding a character’s mechanic is highly crucial inGenshin Impact, and with the number of new characters frequently released into the game, it may become hard to keep up, especially if the unit has a rather complex mechanism.

Nilou is one of the newest additions to theGenshin Impactroster that has unusual mechanics. It’s easy to get confused between the things she has to offer and the long text of her skill descriptions. Therefore, to help players use Nilou properly, here are some mistakes people should avoid when using Nilou inGenshin Impact.
5Not Knowing How Her Elemental Skill Works
Nilou has a uniqueElemental Skill inGenshin impact, that players can use according to how they want to play her. After pressing her Elemental Skill, Nilou will enter aPirouettestate. Afterward, players can either tap her Skill or Normal Attack, each with their own “dance” effect:
After “dancing” twice, players shouldbe mindful of the third dance step.

The idea behind this mechanic is to give players the choice of how they wish to play their Nilou. Entering theLunar Prayerstate allows the dancer to stay on the field, dealing damage as aDPS inGenshin impact. Meanwhile, creating theTranquility Aurawill make Nilou a Hydro-enabling support. In this state, it’s best to swap Nilou out and use a more offensive unit on the field.
4Not Knowing How Nilou’s Ascension Passives Works
Nilou’s first-Ascension passive (A1) is incredibly wordy, so it’s understandable if players lose interest in reading it. Here’s a simple breakdown of the passive:

The Bountiful Cores is the star of Nilou’s gameplay thanks to her A4:
3Underestimating Nilou’s Tranquility Aura
Although it may seem like a waste to not keep Nilou on the field, players should not underestimate Nilou’s Tranquility Aura. The AoE may not deal damage, but sinceplayers’ main focus should be to create Bountiful Cores, this Aura can be more useful than Nilou’s Hydro Infusion.
For instance, if players enter the Lunar Prayer state, Nilou will have to stay on the field. This means players must use the Dendro characters before Nilou. So for a few seconds, the Dendro application on the field will not be affected by Nilou’sGolden Chalice’s Bountyeffect.

Meanwhile, if Nilou is working as asupport inGenshin Impact, then she can take the field first to create the Tranquility Aura, then, players can bring the Dendro characters to make a chaos of Bountiful Cores on the battlefield.
2Not Having A Healer On Nilou’s Team
Nilou’s A1 grants her team 100 Elemental Mastery each time a character is hit by Dendro DMG. Luckily, this is easy as Bountiful Cores and Dendro Cores both deal Dendro DMG when they explode, so players can simply stay in the AoE to activate the effect.

The DMG dealt to the players is roughly 5% of the original damage, so if the Core deals 30k damage to the enemies, then players will get around 1.5k damage. Considering how many Cores players will be making with Nilou, this small damage will quickly stack up, and the next thing people know, the team would have lost half of its HP. Because of this, players have to eitherdodge the Bountiful Coresorbring aGenshin Impacthealeron the team.
1Underestimating Nilou’s Constellations
While Nilou is highly functional at C0, players should not underestimate Nilou’sConstellations inGenshin Impact. Three out of four extra enhancements from Nilou’s Constellations are worth pursuing.
The first Constellation allows Nilou to be a full-time support and a slightly better DPS. Her C2 is the most important upgrade of all, where players will reduce the enemy’s Hydro and Dendro RES, increasing the team’s overall DPS by a large amount. Finally, Nilou’s C6 allows players to play her more as adamage dealer in Genshin Impact. Although, of course, the amount of investment required to get C6 is really high.
