FormerWWEsuperstar Ted DiBiase Jr. is facing a maximum sentence of 185 years in prison. DiBiase is the son of famousWWEwrestler Ted DiBiase Sr., who was best known as the “Million Dollar Man.” Ted DiBiase Sr. notably wrestled in the main event of WrestleMania 4 and continues to make appearances on WWE television to this day, most recently appearing on an episode of Raw back in January 2023.

Ted DiBiase Jr.’s career didn’t take off quite like his father’s. He was best known for being part of The Legacy stable, which also featured Cody Rhodes and was led byRandy Orton. DiBiase won the World Tag Team Championship twice with Rhodes as his partner, and then later brought back his father’s Million Dollar Championship as part of a singles run. DiBiase ultimately left WWE in 2013, wrestling sporadically on the independent circuit but otherwise leaving his wrestling career behind to focus on other opportunities.

Most recently, DiBiase has found himself in the middle of a serious welfare fraud scandal in Mississippi also involving his father, his brother Brett DiBiase, formerNFL quarterbackBrett Favre, and various other individuals. DiBiase is accused of fraudulently obtaining federal funds meant for “needy families and low-income individuals in Mississippi” that were then spent on personal expenses like vehicles and the down payment of a house. DiBiase’s companies allegedly received millions of dollars from nonprofit organizations that he “did not provide” and “did not intend to provide.” As a result, DiBiase has been “charged with one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and to commit theft concerning programs receiving federal funds, six counts of wire fraud, two counts of theft concerning programs receiving federal funds, and four counts of money laundering.” DiBiase could face of a maximum of 185 years in prison if convicted. DiBiase has plead not guilty to the charges.

If Ted DiBiase Jr is convicted it’s likely he wouldn’t be hit with maximum sentences for each charge. It’s also possible he will only be found guilty of certain charges over others, take some kind of plea deal, or that the sentences will run concurrently instead of subsequently. There’s also a chance he could be proven innocent and cleared of all charges, which would of course mean no prison time. There are a lot of things that could happen, and it will be interesting to see how the situation develops for the formerWWE superstar.

As far as DiBiase’s fellow Legacy members go,Cody Rhodes is currently one of the top stars in WWE. Rhodes was recently featured in the main event of WrestleMania 39 in a losing effort to Roman Reigns. Randy Orton is still in WWE as well, but he is currently injured.
