Summary
The second entry in theFinal Fantasy 7 Remaketrilogy is almost here, withFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirthdemo and final trailer getting fans hyped. Despite the demo launching without a preview ofFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirth’s pseudo-open world, the Nibelheim flashback it features is already drawing players back intoFinal Fantasy 7’s epic story. This entry will be pivotal in determining whereFF7goes from here, but in the meantime there will be plenty of faithful recreations and new attractions to keep players going through what may be a much larger game thanFinal Fantasy 7 Remake.
FF7 Rebirthhas advertised many quests and minigames as part of its package, and it may not be convenient for some people to finish all of them. However, a leaked trophy list has set better expectations, asdespite the size ofFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirth’s mapthe process of gaining those trophies should be fair and attainable. While it looks like it will take some time and effort, earning the Platinum Trophy forFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirthshould thankfully feel similar to doing so inFF7 Remake, and nothing like trying to get it inCrisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 Reunion.

Trophies in Final Fantasy 7 Prioritizing Convenience is For The Best
Final Fantasy 7 Remakedoesn’t have the ideal Platinum Trophy requirements, but they serve as a good enough template for7 Rebirthto follow without wasting much of players’ time. Chapter completion gives mandatory achievements as expected, and finishing minigames, side quests, and fulfilling certain battle requirements will reward most of the other 54 trophies. A Hard mode playthrough is necessary to get every trophy, andFF7 Rebirthwill follow suit with its own postgame difficulty. Seeing all ofFF7 Remake’s bridal dresses also requires a third run, but only through specific chapters thanks to the chapter select feature.
Crisis Core Reunion’s Missable Trophies Should Be Avoided
In comparison,Crisis Core Reunion’s Platinum Trophy can be obtained in a single, thorough playthrough by changing the difficulty to Hard just before the final boss. Completionists should savor this, as it’s the only quality of life feature afforded to them. There is no chapter select, and most ofCrisis Core Reunion’s 51 trophies are missable. Side quests, and even some ofCrisis Core’s 300 bonus missions, must be done within their debut chapters, or their associated trophies will be unobtainable for that playthrough.FF7 Reunionshould have a chapter select likeFF7 Remake, so fortunately these issues are unlikely to be repeated.
Final Fantasy Must Never Repeat Crisis Core’s DMW Master Trophy
However, that’s not even the worst trial thatCrisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 Reunionputs completionists through. The DMW Master trophy requires using every summon and Limit Break in the DMW roulette that shows up during battles. Unfortunately, seeing the memories tied to every Limit Break is also required, and it’s always possible for no memories or repeats to appear. Even with an optimized Luck loadout, working around the randomness ofCrisis Core’s DMWmeans there’s no telling how long it will take to get this trophy. The Genji Armor being locked behind this also forces players to get it before several other trophies, including fightingCrisis Core’s superboss Minerva.
How Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Can Streamline Its Trophies
At the very least,Final Fantasy 7 Rebirthcan be trusted to not put players through the DMW Trophies again again. Even with the introduction of the Queen’s Blood card game, thelatest iteration ofFinal Fantasy’s Gold Saucer, and the dice-rolling Cait Sith, randomness shouldn’t ruleRebirth. Based on the leaked list forRebirth, it seems that a Hard mode playthrough is necessary for the Platinum Trophy in addition to collectible hunting and mini-game completion, but a chapter select should keep things convenient enough. WithFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirthsticking close toFF7 Remake’s reasonable trophy requirements, dedicated fans do not have to worry about major setbacks on their way to a Platinum Trophy, which could easily happen in Crisis Core due to its missable content and lack of chapter select.
