A manga adaptation of theFate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Worksseries will debut in Kadokawa’s Monthly Comic Dengeki Daioh’s December 26 issue.
Theadaptation was first announcedin March, revealed in the 13th volume of Kadokawa’s Type-Moon Ace magazine. Veteran mangaka Daisuke Moriyama will illustrate the series. Moriyama is best known forhis Chrono CrusadeandWorld Embryoseries.

A movie adaptation produced by Studio Deen and directed by Yūji Yamaguchi was released in 2010. Deen had previously worked on the 2006Fate/stay nightanime, as did Yamaguchi. Takuya Satō, who has worked on series likeSteins;Gate,Girls Beyond the Wasteland,andPrincess Tutu,served as screenwriter.
Ufotable released a 26 episode anime adaptation in 2014, bringing back the original cast to reprise their roles. The series wasmuch better receivedthan the Deen film, with many praising the quality of the animation and handling of the series leads. Takahiro Miura, who worked onFate /Zeroas well as a handful of theGarden of Sinnersfilms,directed the series. Hideyuki Fukasawa, best known for his work with Capcom, served as the series’ composer.
The anime, film, and manga adapt the 2004Fate/stay nightvisual novel’s “Unlimited Blade Works” route, one of three branching plotlines players can choose from. The game has spawned a number of adaptations and spin-offs, kicking off the greaterFateseries.
Ufotable alsoproduced a film trilogy adaptationof the “Heaven’s Feel” route, running from 2017-2020. Tomonori Sudō served as director on all three films, with Akira Hiyama serving as the film series’ screenwriter. Both men previously contributed to other Ufotable Type-Moon projects. A manga adaptation of theHeaven’s Feelroute illustrated by Task Ohna is currently being serialized in Kadokawa Shoten’s Young Ace imprint, with eight collected volumes so far.
Aniplex USA owns the distribution rights to the Ufotable anime and have released theUnlimited Blade Worksseries andHeaven’s Feelfilms on Blu-ray.
