AFallout 76player has created an impressive CAMP that pays homage to the frightening Mothman. Pre-war, the Mothman was just an urban legend in Appalachia, but after the apocalypse and the mutating effects of radiation, the creature from folklore has proven to be real inFallout 76.
From the very beginning of the game, players become aware of theMothman as they run into cultists who venerate the mutated insects. They have various encampments scattered around the area and even maintain a museum dedicated to the revered creature. In addition to encountering variants of the mutant, players also find items related to the Mothman as they explore Appalachia, like wings and eggs. There are also items that can be unlocked while playing, some of which are ideal for decorating a Mothman-themed camp.
A Reddit user recently shared theirFallout 76Mothman Emporium, an homage to the mysterious mutated bug.The posted video begins outside of the Emporium, with a neon Mothman sign on the roof and two giant Nuka-Cola Quantum bottles flanking the entrance. As the player enters the building, it becomes clear that they have dedicated a lot of time to collecting items throughout Appalachia.
Though there aren’t many items specific to Mothman inside, one wall of the Emporium is filled withFallout 76magazines and toys, which can take quite a while to find. A display cabinet shows off the player’sFallout 76Nuka Colaproducts and an alien in a jar. Many of the objects shown in the video, such as the glowing Quantum bottles outside, are only available from the Atom Shop at rotating intervals, sometimes only for a day or two at a time.
Creating a Mothman Emporium in Fallout 76
Fallout 76players hoping to create their own Mothman Emporium will need some patience. There are Mothman posters to find in the game, as well as a bronze mounted head and even a sculpture of theFallout 76cryptid. The Atom Shop also occasionally offers Mothman-themed or Mothman cultist-related items, such as a replica of the statue seen at the worshippers’ Point Pleasant museum, a gargoyle statue, a cuckoo clock, and a creepy-looking effigy. There is even a Mothman power armor paint set that includes two red headlamps to simulate the creature’s glowing eyes.
The Mothman cultists are just one of dozens of factions inFallout 76,though like the majority of them, it cannot be joined by players. The dedicated followers are a strong presence throughout Appalachia, with outposts set up in Point Pleasant, Lucky Hole Mines, Kanawha Church, and Clancy Manor, but they also show up in random locations to wreak havoc and creep people out with their murmured prayers. The Mothman is such a ubiquitous entity inFallout 76that it even gets its own seasonal event, the Mothman Equinox, an ideal opportunity to pick up items themed after the intriguing cryptid.
