Military conflicts that take place around the world are always in a constant state in human history. In other words, war… war never changes; at least according to theFalloutfranchise. Thankfully,Fallout 4isn’t as resistant to change as war. Modders made sure of that, and some of them took on the monumental challenge of developing their own games usingFallout 4’s engine.

Thus, a plethora of highly ambitious mods are on the horizon. These are certainly bigger than the usual UI or in-game model changes. Some of them are bold enough to remake the olderFalloutgames inFallout 4’s visuals; while others explore a completely different setting that would have taken the original developers years to tackle. So for those tired of Boston already, these ambitiousFallout 4mods will open the doors to other locales.
9Fallout 4: Sim Settlements 2
Fallout 4: Sim Settlements 2 is exactly what it sounds like. A brilliant team of innovators decided to plop a city-building game on top ofFallout 4. Sim Settlements 2 is thus the sequel to their acclaimed previous work. It’s also an overhaul ofFallout 4’s bare settlement building mechanics.

Sim Settlements 2 not just reworks the settlement building but also adds a more meaningful story and quest associated with it. The quest is all about rebuilding Commonwealth and comes with fully-voiced characters, turning one ofFallout 4’s weakest aspects into a fun gameplay segment.
8Capital Wasteland
The Capital Wasteland mod is but a taste of what is possible withFallout 4’s modding scene. It’s also not just a mod, but a remaster ofFallout 3usingFallout 4’s graphical engine. Such a huge undertaking began more than four years ago (at the time of writing) and it’s not yet done.
Some of the parts are playable, however, for those looking to test out this marvel. One of the hardest parts of this remake is how the creators had to re-record all the dialog fromFallout 3in order to avoid legal issues with Bethesda. That’s how dedicated they are to remasteringFallout 3.

7Fallout 4: New Vegas
Fallout 4: New Vegasis another remaster project like Capital Wasteland except it aims to recreateFallout: New VegasinFallout 4’s engine. For some hardcore RPG fans,New Vegasis a better representation of theFalloutfranchise thanFallout 3so this remaster is a given.

At the moment,Fallout 4: New Vegasis still in development and there’s no public partial release available. But fans will want to stay tuned for updates, especially with the nextFalloutgame still too far off in the future. There are a few trailers available online for those eager enough.
6Fallout 4: Project Arroyo
Fallout 4:Project Arroyo is yet again another remaster, but its playground isFallout 2’s locale. Thus, it’s more of a reimagining than a remaster considering howFallout 2is more of a CRPG and an action-RPG. Hence, one could say thatthe modis a bit more difficult and relies a lot on the artistic interpretations of the author.
Regardless, it’s about time someone does it, and if not the developers, then the modders will do justice to the earlierFalloutgames. It’s currently unavailable for the public to test, but the mod author is hard at work and is recruiting a team for the project.

5Fallout: Cascadia
Now, on to totalconversion mods.Fallout:Cascadia is one of the bigger names in this category as it’s a reimagining of the signatureFalloutatom-punk apocalypse in the city of Seattle. Of course, it’s ruined by the nuclear war, no exceptions but as always, it comes with a different atmosphere and cultural norms.

It’s anopen-world game, and supposedly takes place 40 years after the events ofFallout 4,meaning the Easter eggs and references from previous games might not be that ubiquitous. Again, a project of this scale is not yet available for public testing and download, but the creators promise that it will be free forever.
4Fallout: London
FalloutLondon is similar toFallout:Cascadia. It’s pretty obvious where the game is set. As it turns out, the UK wasn’t exempted from the nuclear war that plunged the world into a post-apocalypse. What happened there is a different flavor of madness.
As usual,Fallout:London features some highly-recognizable locales except grimier and a lot less intact. Raiders were replaced with gangs and some of the factions have reverted to their medieval or colonial counterparts like the Knights of the Round Table, etc.

3The Wilderness
For those who are tired of Boston’s ruined cityscape, The Wilderness mod offers a chance for players to stretch out their limbs and breathe in the rural air— which is hopefully a lotless irradiated. The mod introduces a forest area the size of Nuka World (or probably bigger).

Of course, all this open-world space wouldn’t be as engaging without a reason to visit. There’s a main quest involved along with other side quests, and a lot of them are horror-themed.
2Fallout: Miami
Fallout:Miami is similar in scope to the other standaloneFallout 4modsfeaturing other cities. This time around, the mod creators will take their players down south into Florida, which is hot with both radiation and the Caribbean sun.
Since it’s set in the US,Fallout:Miami will also be featuring some of the old and recognizableFalloutstaple factions such as the Enclave. The team is steadily going through its development cycles and at the moment, they have a long way to go. ButFallout: Miami remains one of the most anticipated mods forFallout 4.

1Krishna’s Garden Of Eden Complete Edition
Ever wondered what it would be like if the nukes didn’t launch or land and the player’s family inFallout 4managed to keep on living their atom-punk American Dream? Then Krishna’s Garden of Eden Complete Edition is theperfect modfor that possibility.
It’s essentially a whole new game that will require a new save file. It explores a branching alternate reality where the apocalypse didn’t happen. All that comes with a complete open-world with voiced NPCs and functioning questlines. No need to wade through the muck just to get to Shaun; players won’t lose him here.

Fallout 4was released on July 12, 2025, and is available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
