By now, most of the gaming community is aware of just how fraught with perils the release ofCyberpunk 2077was at the end of 2020. Amidst game-breaking bugs from the word “go” andhotfixes that seem to break the game further, everyone seems to want to take a shot at the game and its developer CD Projekt Red. Even billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk has had a thing or two to say about the studio’s latest attempts to appease disappointed gamers.
Taking to Twitter yesterday, Musk made lighthearted fun of the fact thatCyberpunk 2077’s recent hotfixes have themselves required fixes on top of them to undo the damage. This comment is likely in response to the recent 1.11 update which was made available shortly after an earlier patch did not fix some of the biggest issues with crashing experienced by players. The 1.11 update does, however, fix one major fault with the game in which one mission became unplayable due to an NPC not saying anything on a call.

Elon Musk is no stranger to trollingCyberpunk, either. In December 2020, the CEO of SpaceX and Tesla replied to a Twitterpost from an apologetic CD Projekt Red, in which he posted a screenshot from Reddit showing a disgruntled fan expressing their disappointment over the game’s launch. That wasn’t all. Musk posted another tweet beneath which showed a mock-up image in which theCyberpunk 2077logo was Photoshopped onto a still from the TV showThe Office, specifically the scene in which Michael Scott mockingly pokes his finger through his pants zipper.
The interactions didn’t end there. Just yesterday, Musk - a self-confessed video game fan - announced that his company’s current TeslaPlaid Model S is able to playCyberpunkandThe Witcher 3. He even added an option to change the car’s horn and turn signal sounds to a line from the “Toss a Coin to Your Witcher” which song featured in the 2019 Netflix adaptation ofThe Witcherseries.
Despite all the ribbing,the richest man in the worldhas said he is a fan ofCyberpunk 2077calling it a “great game.” With all the controversy about the release and the quick succession of patches, CD Projekt Red’s ambitious sci-fi RPG has still received high praise, particularly for its detailed story, visual style and huge immersive world. It might have had a rocky start and fans are still experiencing issues with the game, but the studio is hot on the tail of any major game-breaking bugs, so hopefully they’ll continue to put out patches until the game is where it should be.
Cyberpunk 2077is out now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X versions coming at some point in 2021.
