Posting a short clip to theElder ScrollsSubreddit a couple of days ago, user jgreene27 has shown the community what has happened to his face after a reaction involving shrimp. The title of the post suggests that he now looks like he spent “too much time” in the character creation screen fromOblivion. Although it might look uncomfortable, the user seems to be smiling in the video, and has taken the reaction quite well. He also doesn’t appear to be suffering or in any pain.

His video has invited many comments in the thread, some of which are direct, or paraphrased, quotes lifted from the 15-year-oldElder Scrollsgame. A couple of people have referred to jgreene27 as the “hero of Kvatch” while others have dropped in generic dialogue from the game in good humor. The general reaction in the comments have shown justhow important meme culture in theElder Scrollsis, especially in the fan community, and how it has made an impact on life outside the games. People are seemingly more than happy to drop in a quote or two in a light-hearted fashion. Others, however, have offered words of sympathy and their own stories of allergic reactions to shrimp.
Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivionhas a very memorable introduction, one which perfectly establishes some of the lore early on, as well as giving fans a glimpse into Sir Patrick Stewart’s voice-over prowess. The game itself is generally quite memorable, despite aging somewhat now, so the fact that jgreene27 immediately jumps to the idea that their puffy face resembles this installment’s character creation screen is a testament to how much it has imprinted itself on the gaming world.

Fans may be waiting forElder Scrolls 6, but there are evidently still so many people out there who have a lot of love for some of the older games in the series.
