The talents will join lead writer Marion Dayre (Better Call Saul), who announced theEchowriting team on her official Instagram account. Additional members of the writing team include Shoshannah Stern (Supernatural) and Bobby Wilson (Rutherford Falls). While Resnik and Kristensen wrote only a few episodes for their Netflix series, the two have worked on some notable ones. For Resnik, she was responsible for writing theDaredevil’s season 3 episode 8 titled “Upstairs/Downstairs,” which delved deeper into the character of Benjamin Poindexter/Bullseye as he was recruited by Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin. As for Kristensen, his work writingPunisher’s season 1 episode 10 episode titled “Virtue of the Vicious” and a few others presented some worthy action sequences that will hopefully translate over toEcho.
While details have been kept under wraps forEcho, the series will exploreMaya Lopez (played by Alaqua Cox), the deaf Native American commander of the Tracksuit Mafia who was first introduced inHawkeye. Her character initially appears to be another generic villain, but as the show progressed and her character’s emotional history began to unravel, she immediately became ofHawkeye’s, and the MCU’s, most intriguing new characters.
WithD’Onofrio’s Kingpin and Charlie Cox’s Daredevilmaking their introduction into the MCU, as well as these new writers attached,Echowill no doubt deal heavily with Netflix’s past Marvel series. This opens a lot of doors for what where the MCU could head next in their upcoming phases, but it also raises a lot of questions as to what is truly canon in the ongoing cinematic universe.
Until more details forEchorelease in the coming months, fans will just have to catch up on all of the Marvel series (including the Netflix ones likeLuke Cage and Jessica Jones) just to make sure they are caught up. Renner and Steinfneld are rumored to reprise their roles as Hawkeye and Kate Bishop inEcho.
