A new teaser trailer for the nextCall of Dutygame arrives, and it showcases a character from the new game and possibly hints at the return of the popular Simon ‘Ghost’ Riley.
It would seem that Activision is gearing up the hype train for the next iteration of itsCall of Dutyfranchise, although this tease may feature a rather interesting twist. First things first, there’s little doubt in fans' minds that the next installment of the series will beCall of Duty: Infinite Warfare– this is thanks to the various leaks that have been popping up within the past week. While Activision has yet to officially reveal its latest game, the publisher has released a 33-second long teaser trailer to give gamers a taste of what they can expect fromCoDlater this year.
Titled ‘Know Your Enemy’, the footage features a rather intense bald man claiming to be part of the Settlement Defense Front. It’s assumed that this character will likely be a not-so-friendly type, and it builds off of the teaser that currently plays at the end of a match that takes place within the Nuketown map fromCall of Duty: Black Ops III– which is also referenced within the video.

While that’s all well and good, one of the more interesting aspects about this footage is the skull that keeps popping up throughout its runtime. Upon further inspection, the skull seems to feature a striking resemblance to the one adorned byModern Warfare 2’s fan-favorite character Simon “Ghost” Riley. This seems even more plausible when looking at the headphones that sit on top of the skull, something that is a bit of a trademark style for the character.
CALL OF DUTY: MODERN WARFARE 2 SPOILERS AHEAD
It seems like a farfetched assessment, especially when considering that Ghost actually dies near the end ofMW2’s campaign. However, given the futuristic warfare that seems to be present in this newCall of Duty, perhaps there’s been a way that Activision has found to bring the operative back from the dead. Whether that means the character is a clone or has simply passed on his trademark aesthetic to someone new is still up in the air, but there’s no question that Ghost would make for a welcomed return given his longstanding popularity and iconic balaclava.
While Ghost isn’t officially returning in a new game just quite, fans can rest easy knowing that it would appear that the originalCall of Duty: Modern Warfarewill be getting a remaster. Admittedly, that game doesn’t feature Riley either, but it does get the character one step closer to being revitalized in a potentialModern Warfare 2remaster.
In the meantime, it’s safe to say that more concrete information on the game will be arriving in the near future, so stay tuned toGame Rantfor more details on the nextCall of Duty.
