WhileBayonetta 3was first unveiled at The Game Awards in 2017, fans had to wait for 4 years to see gameplay for the first time. Despite there being a lot of Nintendo Directs in this time frame, Bayonetta 3 was strangely absent from all of them. These 2 posts come as a follow-up to theBayonetta 3trailer that premiered atthe latest Nintendo Direct.
The trailer ofBayonetta 3was filled with stylish combat and over-the-top action sequences that had made this series famous. Coupled with a new outfit as well as hairstyle, Bayonetta was shown fighting enemies using a wide variety of combos and special abilities. After the official reveal of the gameplay ofBayonetta 3, the directors of the game have shared a message with fans on the official PlatinumGames website in order to further reassure fans.

The first post comes from Hideki Kamiya, executive director ofBayonetta 3, who apologizes for the long wait. He mentions that the entire development team had been waiting to show off the game, and everyone involved can now breathe a sigh of relief. He later goes on to give credit other key members of the team, and promises thatBayonetta 3will exceed fan expectations. Kamiya mentions that he will be overlooking the world and the story, and has chosen Yusuke Miayata as game director forBayonetta 3. While Kamiya directed the original game, development ofBayonetta 2was led by Yusuke Hashimoto.
Yusuke Miyata, the director ofBayonetta 3, also had a few words to share in a separate post. Surprisingly, he states this will be the first time he will be working on aBayonettagame, but assures everyone that he is a big fan of the series. Miyata had previously worked onThe Wonderful 101andAstral Chain, and is the current head ofDevelopment Group 4 inside PlatinumGames. He mentions that the trailer featured a lot of new elements, including Demon Slave, an ability that lets players control Infernal Demons. Finally, Miayata states that development is in its home stretch, and fans will not have to wait for long.
Hideki Kamiya had previously stated thedevelopment ofBayonetta 3is going well, but some fans were justifiably concerned about the state of the game. It does look like players are generally pleased with the latest trailer, with graphics being the biggest complaint on social media.
Bayonetta 3will release on the Nintendo Switch in 2022.
