While Season of the Deep inDestiny 2has some differences from previous Seasons, it still follows the same pattern more or less. Players participatein the new Seasonal activitiesand acquire all sorts of new weapons and armor as the story unfolds from week to week. Seasonal vendor upgrades have been changed into Seasonal bonuses and are listed on their own page under Seasonal Challenges.

One thing that has remained the same from the previous Season, Season of Defiance, is the change made to Seasonal currencies not being required to complete Seasonal activities. The two new currencies for Season of the Deep are Salvage Key and Deep Dive Key, and here is howDestiny 2players can get them.

How to Get Salvage Keys & Deep Dive Keys

Justlike with Defiant Keys,Salvage Keys and Deep Dive Keys can be obtained by completing any activity in the game.Whether it is a core playlist activity, Seasonal activities, or even raids/dungeons, almost any activity can give players Salvage Keys and Deep Dive Keys as a reward.

Unfortunately, the drop rate on these keys is rather low.As such, it can take some time forDestiny 2players to get these keys. Fortunately, this won’t hinder their progress with the weekly story quest as it doesn’t require keys to complete them anymore.

Fortunately, players don’t have to rely solely on luckto get Salvage Keys and Deep Dive Keys. Though it will take some time, players can get both of these keys from the Season Pass. At Rank 12, players can get a Salvage Key. At Rank 24, players can get a Deep Dive Key. Two additional keys are acquired at Rank 52 and 92 as well. Two keys can also be obtained by reaching Rank 7 and Rank 13 with the Sonar Station.

How to Use Salvage Keys & Deep Dive Keys

If players have either a Salvage Key or Deep Dive Key when doing either the Salvage or Deep Dives activities, the key will be used when players loot the chest at the end of the activity. It is important to note that both Salvage Keys and Deep Dive Keys are not needed to complete the Weekly Challenges for these activities.

When used in their respective activities, a Salvage Key and a Deep Dive Key will greatly increase the rewards contained inside the chest at the end of the activity. For example, without a key in the Salvage activity players get roughly 40 Reputation with the Sonar Station, one Seasonal armor/weapon,and Bait if players have unlocked fishing. However, if players have the Salvage Key when they complete the Salvage activty, they will get over 200 Reputation and have a much better chance of getting a Deep Engram.
