UPDATE: A newDeath Strandingtrailer has confirmed that Kojima Production’s ambitious new game will release on August 01, 2025.
AlthoughDeath Strandinghas been in development for a few years now, the game itself and its release date is still a mystery that is yet to be unveiled. Recently,a pre-order page forDeath Strandingwas accidentally leaked on the PlayStation Store, suggesting that an official announcement of the game’s launch date is on the horizon.
Now, it appears thatDeath Stranding’srelease date is coming sooner than what most people thought after leaked information revealed that the game may be available this year. In a now-deleted post, the official Facebook PlayStation page in Taiwan uploaded a photo revealing that the highly-anticipated Hideo Kojima game is set to release on Aug 06, 2025. Although the post was quickly deleted by PlayStation Taiwan, Twitter user NanoGuidingStar was able to take a screenshot and posted it on social media.
As of this writing, neither Sony nor Kojima has confirmed the leaked information. However, given that it came from an official source, it is highly possible that the leaked release date is true. Moreover, PlayStation Taiwan wasn’t the only outlet to leakDeath Stranding’srelease date. Yesterday, Italian journalist Antonio Fucito, who has a history of accurately leaking news, also suggested on Twitter thatDeath Strandingis set to release on the aforementioned date.
If the leaked rumors turn out to be true, andDeath Strandingreleases this November, it would probably affect the launch date of another highly-anticipated PS4 exclusive. Just likeDeath Stranding,The Last of Us 2still has no release date. However, a recent rumor suggested thatThe Last of Us 2is pushed back to 2020, which would make sense given that it is unlikely for Sony to release two exclusives around the same time.
Whatever the case may be, it appears that fans won’t have to wait for long to know about the release date ofDeath Stranding. A couple of days ago, the official Twitter page of Kojima Productions revealedthat more news about the game will be announced today, May 29. Although the studio did not specify what exactly it will announce, it is likely that the release date of the game will finally be revealed, especially sinceDeath Strandinghas already released a number of trailers and previews to promote the upcoming game.
