Last year, Studio MDHR announced that its critically acclaimed run and gun gameCupheadwould receive post-launch support in the form of aCupheadDLC packagecalled “The Delicious Last Course.” Now, the developer is back with a short new trailer forCuphead: The Delicious Last Course, and it has also provided an update on when this DLC will be available.
Initially planned to launch in 2019, theCuphead: The Delicious Last Courserelease date is now set for 2020, a delay that Studio MDHR has recently elaborated on. Specifically, the studio suggests that its “highest priority is making sure this new adventure meets the meticulous level of care and quality” that fans expect fromCuphead, which has led the developer to push the release date for “The Delicious Last Course.”
“This wasn’t an easy decision to make,” the announcement from Studio MDHR continues, but the developer states that this decision will “result in a higher quality experience” that is created in a way that is “healthy and sustainable for [the] team.” While some may be disappointed to have to wait a bit longer to experience the challenges that “The Delicious Last Course” will most certainly offer, Studio MDHR’s words suggest these players will be rewarded for their patience.
With respect to the contents of “The Delicious Last Course,” fans can look forward to using new weapons and charms, to face off against newCupheadbosses, on a brand new island in thisDLC package. Additionally, Ms. Chalice will join Cuphead and Mugman as a newCupheadplayable character, and she will have her own unique playstyle and abilities, including a double jump, for fans to master.
Earlier this year,Cupheadreleased for Nintendo Switch, giving an entirely new group of players a chance to experience the game’s unique art style and punishing difficulty. With more players than ever now having access toCuphead, there are certain to be many that are very excited to continue their time with the game through “The Delicious Last Course” DLC, and it seems that Studio MDHR is committed to making sure that experience lives up to the base game.
