Summary
Some fans think a new attachment for weapons in the upcomingCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 3makes guns look like they belong in theBorderlandsseries rather than a realistic military-shooter. The next entry in Activision’sCall of Dutyfranchise is on the way, but some lucky gamers got to preview it during the beta this past weekend. This gave players a chance to see whatCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 3has to offer.
Of course, those who took part in the beta are talking about the experience and sharing their thoughts and images with each other and with those who missed the event. Thanks to this chatter, fans have already learned thatModern Warfare 3players think that the Breacher Drone is overpoweredand gotten an idea of how the maps feel this time around. In addition, an image is now making the rounds online that has some thinking the developers may have taken a bit of inspiration from another shooter series.

An image, shared on Reddit by user BearSquid7, shows a pistol with a scope attachment, and some fans think it belongs more in the sci-fi seriesBorderlandsthan in aModern Warfaregame. The post doesn’t include the name of the weapon or attachment, but it looks to be a KRV41XRiser scope with a standard, semi-automatic handgun. The scope is notably larger, nearly half the size of the pistol, and rests well above its barrel. As noted by Redditors, the whole package simply looks awkward, out of place, and unwieldy.
This isn’t the first piece of criticism to emerge since the beta events began. Already, someModern Warfare 3players have complained about the beta’s TTKand others are frustrated by changes to the multiplayer maps.
To be fair, not everyone is pessimistic about the future of the game. There were plenty of players on Reddit that feel the attachment and its strange look isn’t a big deal. Others have recently noted thatCall of Duty: WW2’s War Mode is returning inModern Warfare 3. Still, the general trend of the Reddit thread was negative.
There are already concerns about the core multiplayer experience for the upcoming sequel and some are also saying thatModern Warfare 3Zombies won’t live up to past games. Fans will have to wait until November to see ifModern Warfare 3lives up to its predecessor or if its flaws detract from the experience.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3launches on November 10 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
