Not everyBleachcharacter has the sheer awesome intimidation factor that Kenpachi, Yoruichi, or Byakuya naturally possess, as they prefer to take the “don’t judge a book by its cover” approach to life. Enhanced by their unique abilities, these initially weak wannabe heroes transform into powerhouses, each excelling in their unique field of supernatural abilities.

This text willnotinclude spoilers sourced from theBleachManga or theThousand Year Blood War Arcanime (which is available from 14 July 2025.) Now let’s explore why the following characters deserve their membership in this renowned Big Three cast.

9The Damsel-in-Distress

This delicate young lady is not much of a threat and regularly finds herself in the helpless-maiden role, but luckily, Orihime Inoue is not just any human. She has access to the magical abilitiescarried out by her six fairy minions, also known as Shun Shun Rikka, that emerge from the flower-shaped clip in her hair.

While Orihime is incapable of using offensive attacks effectively, her supernatural skills are excellent at healing and creating defensive shields. Her powers are strongly influenced by her emotions, so it’s best to keep things upbeat and positive for Orihime for the most effective results.

8The Baby Arrancar

There is more than meets the eye when it comes to the helpless, adorable toddler who hit the jackpot whenIchigo decides to take her under his wing. However, when push comes to shove, this baby can transform into a highly skilled warrior with the power level of a top-tier Arrancar.

The full-grown Nelliel Tu Odelschwanck basically got her cranium bashed in by the vindictive Nnoitra and began losing reiatsu through the crack in her skull. In order to save herself, Nel reverted back into a childlike state and went into hiding, but thankfully, these modifications were not permanent.

7The Bookworm

This underrated waifu works alongside her uncle, Captain Shunsui Kyōraku, in the Gotei 13 and is generally considered to be more of a scholar than a warrior. Nanao Ise is rarely seen carrying a weapon of any kind and has particularly poor swordsmanship skills, but she makes up for it in other departments.

Instead, Nanao relies onher advanced Kido skillsin battle while her Shunpo technique is swift enough to keep up with the Captains. She can cast many spells without first uttering the incantation, giving her opponent little warning about the impending attacks. Nanao was raised to the lieutenant position based purely on her incredible Kido talents, and her status has nothing to do with nepotism.

6Superboy

The youngest Captain of the Goetei 13 does not have much physical strength to boast of (considering his small stature), but Tōshirō Hitsugaya should in no way be underestimated. He may give the impression of embuing the accountant-type, but this little guy is potent enough to give the mighty Tier Halibel a run for her money!

Tōshirō’s youthfulness also indicates that his powers are still in their juvenile state, and Captain CommanderShunsui Kyoraku believes the boy’s potential is boundless. His reiatsu isso powerful that his ice abilitieswere already active when he was still human, and have only intensified since partnering up with Hyōrinmaru in the afterlife.

5From Zero To Hero

Yammy Riyalgo is considered to be the weakest Espada around, barely holding on to his 10th-ranking status as it is. However, once his Resureccion is released, it’s a whole other ballgame! He has the unique ability to store up spirit energy (in this case, Reiryoku), subsequently supercharging himself with enough potency to propel himself into the highest position, zero.

When Yammy"Gets P***** Off,“his Zanpakuto, Ira, bursts with a Reiryoku explosion while the Arrancar grows to a gargantuan size, and all his attacks and abilities are enhanced immensely. Yammy’sblood-red rage only aggravates the situation, adding more fuel to his fire and becoming the catalyst for an even more magnificent transformation.

4Dude, Where’s My Sword?

This Shinigami airhead is not creating waves with his incredibly strategic mind or intimidating enemies with his bulking physique; however, Hanataro Yamada’s healing abilities are top-notch! Hanataro relies on his Zanpakuto so infrequently that he often misplaces Hisagomaru, which hasbecome a running gag inBleach.

When Hisagomaru strikes anyone, it causes its “victim” to heal and gauges the level of injury sustained, before automatically activating itsShikai. The sword then transforms into a trusty scalpel perfect for medical work, and more. The Zanpakuto no longer heals, but this tiny blade can now project the combined energies from all the mended wounds, creating a powerful Cero-like blast.

3Pretty In Pink

This entry is more of an honorable mention since there are so few facts about Kenpachi Zaraki’s sidekick (and the promise of no Manga-sourced information was made!) The mere fact thatYachiru Kusajishi can bear to be around Kenpachi’sintense aura is testament enough to her astounding power level, as the 11th Division Captain’s reiatsu alone can quite literally crush those unworthy of his presence.

Yachiru rarely gets involved in conflicts and prefers to observe. However, if provoked, her reiatsu has been known to have a similar potency as Kenpachi’s, capable of incapacitating her unsuspecting opponent with the pink kitty spirit energy. As the lieutenant of the combat division, this cutie undoubtedly strikes fear into the hearts of grown men, even if fans are not quite sure why!

2ConfidentKon-sealment

While it comes as a surprise to many viewers, Kon’s extensive ego actually matches up quite well with his capabilities, as this stuffed toy’s attacks are anything but cute and cuddly. The almighty Kaizō Konpaku is actually an artificial soul possessing a lion plushie with the ability to switch hosts when needed. Kon can therefore enter Ichigo’s (lifeless) body, taking the concept of VR gameplay to a whole other level!

When Mod Souls were initially created in Seireitei, they were given the power to modify their host body in some manner, enhancing a particular aspect. Kon soon realizes that thenew-and-improved Ichigo has superiorlower body strength than before, subsequently elevating his speed, jumping (up to 13 meters high!), and kicking potency.

1The Last Quincy

The stern and serious Uryu Ishida is not about to win anyArnold Classiccontests. Nevertheless, he is proof that muscles don’t maketh the man, but magic does! Uryu is a lean, mean, archery machine and is considered to bethe last living Quincyto still roam the Earth.

With the help of his grandfather’s Sanrei Glove, Uryu is able to hone his powers, subsequently increasing his Reishi Manipulation skills and the potency of his attacks. He is also capable of identifying an individual’s spirit ribbons, while his Quincy-powered bow-and-arrow system rarely misses its mark. Poor Uryu is regularly underestimated, undervalued, and underutilized. However, his constant dismissal is due to change very soon!
