Summary
A steady aim, pre-calculated bullet drop, and a lot of patience headline the skilled marksmanship of the scout class inBattlefield 1. Disrupting enemy movements and taking out targets one by one from obscure spots on the map is as reliant on the players’ sniping skills as it is on the weapon’s performance.
This topic will take a look at the top scout-class weapons inBattlefield 1and rank them in terms of their performance indicators like damage output, range, and bullet velocity. Different situations call for different firearms, so that is also accounted for in the ranking below. Special credit to theBattlefield Fandomfor all the useful stats covered here.

5Russian 1895 Trench
High ROF For Medium And Close-Quarter Firefights
Upon reaching Level 1 of the Scout class and spending 200 Warbands, players can unlock theRussian 1895 Trench gun. Contrary to other scout weapons, the Russian 1895 employs a lever-action mechanism which gives it a decently high rate of fire (124 rpm). This makes it a fierce weapon in close quarters, when the two teams clash over a control point, especially in a tight setting likeFort De Vaux.
This almost gives the Scout class an assault-type role, so it is good to have such versatility when the maps or situations do not warrant long-range sniping. Anything more than 40 meters results in severe damage drop-off for the Russian 1895 Trench due to its poor bullet velocity (530 m/s) so it’s recommended for close and medium-distance engagements.

4Martini-Henry Infantry
One-Hit Kill
TheMartini-Henry Infantryvariant is unlocked upon reaching Level 10 with the Scout class for 200 Warbands. It is a potent single-action rifle that will completely deplete the opponent’s health bar. Up to an impressive distance of 80 meters, the Martini-Henry Infantrymaintains a lethal one-kill damage output, even if they are body shots.
Such a strong characteristic has an obvious caveat: only a single bullet can be used before needing a reload. The 2.3-second-long reload animation after each shot can become frustrating for some players, but those with the nerves of steel and patience of a saint will find that the damage potential is worth it. The Sniper variant of Martini-Henry is also another great option that will allow players access to a bipod attachment and a greater magnification scope, but the Infantry variant suffices for most situations.

3SMLE MKIII Marksman
Largest Magazine Size
TheSMLE MKIII Marksmanis unlocked right from the beginning inBattlefield 1,so it’s a good starting sniper rifle that players can use to polish their sniping skills. Despite having no unlock requirements, the SMLE MKIII is extremely reliable and stable thanks to the default palm rest the weapon comes with. Moreover, it has an attached bayonet for situations where players might attempt to sneak behind the camping sniper.
With a magazine size of 10 rounds, there’s much more generous room for error compared with other weapons of this class. It never outshines the other scout weapons but provides a decent performance in all those metrics, including bullet velocity (740 m/s) and sweet spot range (40-75 meters). Ultimately, the SMLE MKIII Marksman is a reliable starting weapon with fewer risksand high rewards thanks to its magazine size.

2M1903 Sniper
Extreme Precision With The Best Sweet Spot
TheM1903 bolt-action sniperis unlocked at Level 3 of the Scout Class for 200 Warbands. It excels in long range due to its extremely low drag coefficient (0.002) and the huge sweet spot between 100–150 meters which allows one-hit kills on body shots in that range. The Sniper variant gives it more stabilitywith a high-powered scope and bipod attachment.
The bullet velocity is also decent (820 m/s) with very little damage drop-off, so the damage numbers are consistent. There is very little to say about the drawbacks of the M1903 Sniper other than the various reload animations that need a little getting used to, and it can take anything from 0.5 to 3.7 seconds.

1Gewehr 98 Sniper
Highest Bullet Velocity
TheGewehr 98 Sniperis unlocked at Level 3 of the Scout class for 200 Warbands. It is the best sniper rifle in the game because of its highest in-class muzzle velocity of 880 m/s, so long-distance encounters are what it’s made for. The high bullet velocity means that it works reliably well on fast-moving targets as well, since there is little dip in its trajectory, even when fired from long distances.
With the Sniper variation, the kills that can be achieved up to 300 meters will win over any Scout-class players’ hearts. The sweet spot distance (80 - 125 meters) for eliminating enemies in a single body shot is also very impressive and should cement Gewehr 98 Sniper as the ultimate choice for long-range sniping.
