The game could thrive thanks to addictive gameplay and if it integrated a souped-up track creator like Ubisoft’sTrackmaniaseries, the racing potential could be endless.
Puppeteerwas a great PlayStation platformer that wasn’t talked about enough by players out there. The game is staged as a puppet show comes to life, with a charming theater aesthetic, complete with audience gasps and cries alongside on-the-fly set changes, presenting a truly captivating platformer.
Puppeteerwasn’t just a game that relied on its whimsical charm, it also delivered a solid platforming experience to boot. Equipped with interchangeable heads, with some offering new abilities and a pair of magic scissors that can be used to traversePuppeteers' world thanks to players snipping and cutting their way through the stage. It’s a delightful platformer to play, and one of the best games tocast the player in the role of a puppet, Better yet, it’s a vibrant and enchanting game that deserves to get a remake and hit the high notes it never could on the PlayStation 3.
LittleBigPlanetwasthatgame. The game pulled in a wide range of gamers and non-gamers alike and made them fall in love with gaming. Whether that be the pull of playing as an adorable Sackboy, a wide array of inventive and challenging platforming levels, or the potential for gamers to make and shape their own levels, limited only by their imagination.LittleBigPlanethad something for everyone.
Sackboy has continued to thrive on PlayStation thanks to his latest platforming entry inSackboy: A Big Adventure, but it was Media Molecules' original game that had Sackboy at his best. With so many wonderful worlds and an emphasis on playing together, it built its own community, and it continued to thrive well beyond the game’s launch. A full remake of the game’s original levels and story would be a win for many fans out there. Still, a remake and updated revamp of all the originalLittleBigPlanethad on offer could be an absolute triumph, and a new streamlined level maker, would be a huge pull for both creative and play-focused gamers alike.
Racing games outside the well-known franchises seem to be getting rarer and rarer with each new console generation. Still, Evolution Studios' excellent PlayStation 3Motorstormtrilogy was an absolute winner for gamers and racing fans alike. The game was chaotic and adrenaline-fueled fun as racers smashed, crashed, and blasted across the well-designed tracks.
Motorstormwas a racer that brought fun and chaos to the forefront of its game. The carefully designed tracks led to alternate routes that benefited each vehicle type. Whether gamers chose to race a dirt bike or a hulking truck, there was always an optimal path for each vehicle to take and make up ground. It was a fast, cathartic racer that was only backed up by strong gameplay and tight racers that had many gamers pulling off some impressive last-minute wins. Whilst the PlayStation does have its staple racer inGran Turismo 7,Motorstormwould offer gamers a racing experience at the other end of that racing spectrum, pure arcade racing fun.
Without a doubt,Starhawkwas one of PlayStation 3’s best multiplayer experiences. Whether gamers talk about the gorgeous Sci-Fi western setting, its well-refined third-person shooting or its key build and battle mechanic,Starhawkdid almost everything right.
The game is probably most akin to Respawn studio’sTitanfall 2, a game that delivered an exceptional single-player campaign that also helped teach the games' mechanics to be ready for them to take on its brilliant yet addictive online component. The game featured 32 player-filled matches and had the battlefield constantly evolving with new structures and vehicles escalating into massive showdowns. Withhow compellingFortnite’s build systemhas been with gamers, it’s hard to argue that a modern remake of this game, complete with the full multiplayer offering. Chuck is in a battle royale mode for players to thrive in, and it’s hard to deny that aStarhawkremake wouldn’t be a smash hit.
Naughty Dog has already had one of their PlayStation 3 classics remade for the PlayStation 5 in one of the console’s best games,The Last of Us. ThoughUncharted: Drake’s Fortunehas already received a PlayStation 4 remaster, thanks to theUncharted Nathan Drake Collection, it’s a game that could go even further with a full remake, though there arerumours one may already be in the works.
Uncharted: Drake’s Fortunewas the first of many great games that wowed players with a classic treasure-hunting tale, as well as introducing them to the great, quip-filled treasure hunter that is Nathan Drake. The first entry in the franchise shows Drake’s growth as a person and delivers an exceptional adventure story filled with great gameplay and challenging levels (Yes, that does include the dreaded blue room). It’s a fantastic experience to this day, but with the promise of a full remake bringing about the same great results thatThe Last of Us Part 1brought, it’s hard for any fan not to deny how great a remake could be.
Sucker Punch Productions may currently be known for their exceptional work on the Stealth-action gameGhost of Tsushima. Still, back on the PlayStation 3, and early PlayStation 4, they were known for delivering theInfamousseries. The superpowered, choice-driven open-world games allowed players to play as either a hero to the people or thevillain of the city.
The first entry in the electrically charged comic book franchise was arguably the best in the franchise thanks to the core origin story and difficult karmic decisions that had players struggling to choose the best option. The story delivered one of the best comic book experiences, and the electrical powers allowed players to be a truly destructive force. With how many superhero games are coming out, anInfamousremake would be right at home on the PlayStation 5 and give players another chance to experience Cole’s origin, supped-up to the max.
Developed by Insomniac Games,Resistance: Fall of Manwas one of thelaunch titles for the PlayStation 3. Set in an alternate World War 2, which saw the world attacked by an alien invasion from a species known as the Chimera. The game puts players in the role of an American Sergeant, Nathan Hale, who’s dropped into a war-torn United Kingdom, in hopes of repelling the Chimeran forces.
The story itself was an interesting Sci-Fi narrative that drew so many players in and set the course for what would go on to be a fantastic trilogy on the PlayStation 3. The real draw of the game was the creative weaponry and well-refined gameplay. The PlayStation is a little light on first-party First-Person Shooters, so bringing back a fullResistance: Fall of Manremake, multiplayer included, could be a big win for Sony and gamers alike, plus theinnovative DualSense controllerwould only boost the feel of the inventive weaponry.
